Let's give the Monday Morning MAME Club another try! Sure, it's Monday night, and I promised a game last week...but what's the MMMC, if not unpredictable?

Anyway, Traverse USA is a cross country motorcycle racing game. The first part of each level is top down racing. Then the game switches to a 3D-ish perspective as you get close to town.

This was always a game I enjoyed in the arcade, and still do to this day. I find the game to be really tough. You don't always have a lot of reaction time, which probably leads to a lot of cheap crashes.

So, give Traverse USA a try! Let us know what you think!

I like the game, the music is annoying but you find yourself humming it lol.
The game gets quite challenging very quickly

This game does a lot right, suprised I am. One key strategy is using the narrow shoulder outs, which often swerve off track, to pass the obnoxious jerks who will keep honking at you when you brake for the fun of it. HaHaHaHa. Quite the game of reflexes or twitch as they say. Also nice color, like comics from the golden age prior.

Edit: Wow this thread is old; but I would gladly have Zippy Race on my dedicated two-way control cocktail machine as a matter of course.

I can see how this game would cost one quarters just trying to finish it with the gage always right there. I thought it was an okay game. The regurgitation of what felt like the same level every other one is what threw me off a bit. They could of done something cooler for the cities; like make it look like one. The desert levels were the hardest for me. The fun in this game for me was when I would get going really fast and dodge a bunch of stuff luckily of course and come out the other end. It reminded me of Road Rash for the genesis when you would be flying and miss some incoming traffic by the skin of your ass.
