Well, everybody, it's time for me to write another Herzog Zwei guide for my website. In case you don't know (and if not, why not?), in the first installment, I dealt with all the gameplay basics. Now, I want to discuss actual strategy.

This is where I'd like your help. I'd like you to share any of your Herzog memories or strategies or tips that you've learned over time. Please be specific if you can. I promise to give the proper thanks in the strategy guide.

Here's what I have so far:

Human Shields - Using units to take bullets for the Home Base.

Boat Defense - (Islands stage) Using "circle defense" for the boats near the HB.

The Cross Pattern - How to use supply trucks effectively by surrounding them with units.

Repair Tricks - Using your Mech to repair your units (flying them over bases).

Drawing Fire - Using your Mech/Jet to draw fire from Gatling Guns away from your ground units.

Natural Defense - Taking advantage of natural barriers for things like supply trucks, etc.

Beat the CPU - How to easily beat the computer.

Humiliation - Dropping Gatling Guns at opponent's HB - usually ends in fistfights.

Convoy Patterns - Great convoys for sending to Minor or Home Bases.

Using Orders Effectively - Use the "secure" order to send a pack of tanks to a new target.

That's where I'm at. If you can help out at all, I would greatly appreciate it.

Just checked out the first part of your guide and I gotta saw it's very extensive! Probably one the few HZ guides I've read and looks promising to be one the best looking!

Now I got the urge to play HZ...

Thank you for the kind words. If you have the urge to play Herzog now, then I've done my job. I fell in love with this game, but it was a pain to learn everything, because there are only a couple scattered websites devoted to it. I wanted something that was comprehensive and easy for anyone to get into the game.

HZ's definitly one the unsung heros of the Genesis collections as well as the RTS series.

HZ was one my stepfather's first genesis games. he didn't like it too much (not enough action I think) but I took a liking to it and started playing it alot back then.
