Is there an easy way to go about this? Sure my idea will be incompatible with the HDTV here (due to unsupported resolution!), but there is an SD CRT around that should do fine.

The latter displays PS1 games on a PS2 over component. May as well try SNES, Genesis, etc, modes to find out what happens. Annoying part is such converters look to often not pass through audio.

I would reccomend the ebay RGB scart -> component transcoder as its cheap, and now comes with a US plug http://cgi.ebay.com/SEGA-SCART-RGB-YPbPr-YUV-Component-Video-Converter-/220698773448?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3362ac07c8

Audio can be pulled with a scart switch or a little passthrough dongle that can break out left and right audio.

That certainly looks simple to use. Then it's just getting the right cables, some aren't build as well as others IIRC.

if you search the forum for "rgb" "scart" etc you'll find further resources with several links to ebay listings and sellers that are good. I use pcenginesales for my rgb scart cables, except for the saturn one, whic his just a chinese cable. She sells scart switches as well, though none I saw with audio breakout jacks (you can ask her about that though, she might be able to find or recommend one)

Hmm. SNES seems to have cables with inline audio. Genesis I think I can get the sound from Sega CD if necessary.

Yeah I've thought about getting another saturn to hook up to the CRT. I'd have to for Virtua Cop.

I wouldn't use the inline audio part of the snes cable if I was hooking more than one device up. Probably would use one of the scart switches on pcenginsales page -> the audio breakout thing you linked me in pm -> rgb to yuv transcoder
