I'm not much of a collector. I only own about 20 nes games and 7 snes games. I've played them many times and never get tired of them. I knew for a long time that there were other Mega Man games made, but I've been content with the ones I do own, and like I previously said, I'm not the type to obsess and buy random games.

The Mega Man games I do own are Mega Man for nes, and Mega Man X, X3 for snes. Well for Christmas, I decided to finally buy Mega Man 2 and 3. I thought it would be interesting for me to post my thoughts/experiences regarding the series. I plan on purchasing the other games in the series only after beating the previous ones(if they are fun).

Again, I'm no hardcore mega man addict. I've enjoyed what I've played thus far, and hope 2 and 3 offer me an enjoyable experience. And so as someone who is relatively knew to this classic, I will be keeping this thread as a journal of my accomplishments/experiences playing these games.

*******I know the Mega Man games are widely known and played. But they aren't for me. So please don't post any spoilers. I would like to experience everything without any prior stigmas, biases etc.*********

When I was younger the only Mega Man games I played were 1 and 2. I didn't own 1 and only played it briefly but 2 was fantastic and I got a lot of play time out of it. I recently picked up Rockman compilation for Mega Drive and really enjoyed Mega Man 3. MM1 has been kicking my ass but it's nice to see were the series originated and how they branched out from there.

Well, MyTurnToPlay, you are in for a treat with Mega Man 2 then.. it is arguably the best of the original series, or possibly any MM series (though Mega Man X is my personal favorite).

Can't go wrong with Mega Man 3, or 4 for that matter. And X 2 isn't half bad either, though it doesn't seem nearly as original or iconic as the first X..

Mega Man 2 was the whole reason I started collecting NES games. As a kid, it was the best game I had ever played. It got me to thinking, what games are as good or better than Mega Man 2? The only wasy to find out was to collect the entire NES library.

Now that I have every licensed game, I can say my search for a better game on the NES is over. The verdict? In my opinion, it's still the best.

Excellent grabs, enjoy and tell us what you think!

I really enjoy Mega Man 2, BUT, and I am in a very, very small minority group, actually like the first game better… I cannot explain why, but that is the ways I feel and the ways I am…

Mega Man is a very special game to me… but as I am saying, Mega Man 2 is a great game and features awesome musics… I just preference the original Mega Man more…

I enjoy the original Mega Man more than any other as well. I bought it new not long after I received my NES and it was a big deal for me when I finally completed it. Several of the sequels are great as well, but considering the formula remained so similar, it's hard for me not to like the first one best.

I also never played a Mega Man in my entire life (almost 27 now) until November 2008 after I got into collecting. I had to see what the hype was about.

I beat MM1-6 over the span of a month or so and enjoyed every minute. Tried MM7 on SNES for about 10 minutes, didn't like it and never played again. I got about 160/200 achievements on MM9 on Xbox last winter, still haven't tried MM10 yet.

But the franchise is highly addictive and quite fun. You'll enjoy the ride!

You think YOUR minority group is small?! My favorite game on the series is Megaman 4!! LOL

That said, I LOVE Megaman. One of the coolest, most fun to play series ever created. I played 4 and 5 a lot, fair amounts of 2, and some 1 and 6 here and there. I'm also really fond of megaman 7 on the SNES, and the X series - and this thread has just reminded me of all the joy that awaits me on the PSX. Gotta start lokking for those games!!

P.S.: I NEVER played Megaman 9 or 10, and that makes me a saaaad panda.

I love Mega Man games. I used to have IV and V for GB, but I made the mistake of trading them in due to their high trade in value (though I played them and beat them multiple times beforehand). I currently have 2 and 3 on NES, I and III on GB, 8 on psx, X4 on PC, MMBN2 GBA, MMBN3 GBA, Mega Man Zero 1 GBA, Mega Man Zero 3 GBA, Mega Max X SNES, Mega Man Xtreme GBC, Mega Man Xtreme 2 GBC, MMAC GCN, Mega Man 9 WiiWare, and Mega Man 10 WiiWare.

I JUST got done with a game of Mega Man and then saw this thread. I got to the second stage of Doctor Wily's castle, (Where you have to fight the bosses again) and after dying the second time, out of weapons, I said "Screw it" and turned it off. :beaten:

*Update.

I have time this weekend. Time for what? Time for Mega Man 2. Let's do this. Wow, the opening scene has a really catchy tune. I'm already pumped and excited to play the game. I love when games do that.

I had read the instruction manual online. Nothing complicated. The usual A, B actions. 3 new powers: 2 elevators and a flying hoverboard of some sort. Looks interesting. Manual suggested experienced players start with Metal Man and newcomers with Air Man. I went Metal Man. Oh, there's a difficulty setting: normal and difficult. Let's not kid around, I went difficult.

Can't tell which song is more awesome, the opening intro, or Metal Man's. Can definitely see myself humming these two throughout the day. See? I'm already doing it. Ok, concentrate on the game. Several tries later. Metal Man dead. Let's see, who's next? Yeah sure, I guess we'll try Air Man next.

Another nice tune. Slower, but still catchy. Straightforward level, nothing tricky. Wait, spoke too soon. Doggone birds. Ugh, how do I kill--there's another stupid egg. How the f--k? Ok, you're still good. You made it. A bit trickier boss. Can't seem to avoid those tornados. *About 20 minutes later* Airman Dead. Item 2 acquired. What's item 2? Will have to test it.

So Metal Man and Air Man dead. Ok, rock paper scissors right? So what makes sense next? Metal chops wood? Not sure. Let's try it. Wood Man stage selected. Vampires? hahah. Nice touch Mega Man, nice touch. A few large dogs, ok..simple pattern. Jump and shoot, jump and shoot. Damnit, the birds are back. These rabbits are starting to piss me off as well. Woo, barely made it. Behind that door is boss. Switch over to Metal. Crap! Keep forgetting I have this "E" thing. Using it now. And what's Item 2? Forgot that too. Try it later. Going in now. Leaves? You're attacking me with leaves Wood Man? You have to do better than that. Spoke too soon. Leaves f--king me up. Gotta dodge and jump just right. Just one more hit and he's dead. Come on. Come oooonnnn. Boom! Well, that went well. These Metal blades rule.

Who's my next victim. Can I take the heat? I sure can. Heat Man stage selected. Son of a ----. Motha #@$. I hate this. I hate it sooo bad. Ugh, enough for today.

The worst is when you use too many energy tanks during the Wily stages that by the time that you reach the final boss of the last stage, you're SOL since you need at least 1 energy tank to fall back on.

With today's games and how they basically start us off right before the boss battle, we are being retrained to have shorter patience. It also reduces the idea of mastering the game's controls and mechanics. Well, come to think of it, I guess it keeps us from losing our hair at a faster rate... so, maybe it's a good thing :-P

I have a load of Mega Man Games and I mean like over 50. But the problem is, I'm not too good at them. My most prized game in my collection is a Mega Man game, actually a Rockman game, Rockman Mega World.

Sure but there Isn't really much to spoil besides the Battle Network and Starforce series. Though the later games have more story.

Megaman 2 graphics blew my mind when the game was released. Capcom had some of the best graphics on the system. I don't know how they did it.

Neither have I, this was one of the first Mega Man games I actually picked up, after I found out it was rare and in my local video game store. Before then I didn't own any Mega Man games. The bosses and weapons and levels are all original, and I've gotta say I really like it all. It's not overly difficult like Mega Man 1, but it's still got a nice challenge.

And it hosts the best weapon of the series IMO, the health regen gun.

I drove 180 miles to get my copy from Gamestop. It was the closest location that had it. They were doing a steep discount on GB/GBC games at that time and I think I wound up paying like 8 bucks.

This is also one of the games worth hunting down a Super Gameboy to play.
