Title pretty much explains it. I picked up a Sega CD model 2 along with a Genesis. Audio CDs play, but games will not. I have tried two different games.

When the system is started, the Sega CD splash screen will appear, "Checking Disc." The disc will spin up, access light blinks a few times but it never goes beyond that. It doesn't freeze or anything like that.

Searching around I have seen many references to tweaking or replacing the laser assembly. I tried to tweak the potentiometer, which gave a few more blinks of the 'Access' light, but still no loading of games. I'm guessing the next course of action is to replace the laser assembly. The power supply is labelled (by the previous owner) as belonging to the Sega CD. Anyone have other ideas or should I just order to laser pickup assembly?

Every company I can find that once listed the laser for the model 2 rev. 1 unit no longer list as carrying the product. Anyone know of a source?

I'm no expert, but it seems odd to change out the laser when it still plays audio CDs. If the laser was broken, wouldn't it stop playing audio CDs as well? To me, this all seems like a problem with the board.
