Is there anything out there giving information or an index for these games?

something listing all the asteroids alikes, all the robotron ripoffs, all the space invaders 'homages' etc and maybe mentioning which ones are eh, ok, good, etc. ? I'd also like to know which (if any,) do the classic 'get harder till you die' or if they all have set number of levels?

Also, in general, any gems you have discovered amidst the flotsam?

I've really enjoyed Machiavellis (sp?) Ascent, among others.

XBLARatings has an XBIG section, with in-depth info on most of the games plus some user reviews:

I haven't bought many XBIG games but some of my favorites are ZP2KX (2D deathmatch game with online), Motorheat (continuous racing) and Chaos Gateway (adventure game).

I will have to check those out...

Anyone figure out how to play the indie games you have bought if your console isn't connected to xbox live? any way to make your pc 'tell' your xbox it's connected even if it isn't? I only mention this because I think of games with a longview (for example, all the now-dead and off-line elements relating to the original xbox...) at some point, MS will no longer allow the 360 to 'link-up' and where will all the indie games I (and others,) have bought be then?

My coworker has a blog with a bunch of in-depth indie reviews on it:

As long as you play the games on the console you bought them on, you can totally play them offline.

It's only if you bring your HDD to a buddy's house and want to play them there, that you'll need your gamertag and a connection before you can do anything.

I figure that once the 360 is offline 15 years from now (or whatever), that they'll be unlocked, either by MS officially or some hacker, but even if they're not, my second paragraph holds true:

This is true with XBLA; but for indie games, you *have* to be connected to Xbox Live to play them. Don't ask me why, but I've had my Xbox offline for awhile now, and I could never play the indie games that I had bought (on that console as well) because I wasn't connected to Xbox Live.

Wow - I had no idea. Sorry about that!

Right, so anyone have any ideas about backing up the indie games/playing them off-line?

can't seem to find anything about this anywhere... guess it's something beyond the hackers...
