I was never really interested before, but lately I've discovered some Japanese cell phone games that caught my eye, and now I'm interested.

My one and only question is, is it possible for Americans to play these games?

And how does it work, anyway? Do they download to a hard drive or do you have to constantly be in an area with a lot of bars?

Thanks for helping.

I am pretty sure you can not get them, unless you buy a japanese cell phone that someone has already downloaded the games to...

That's not necessarily true, I've seen quite a few Japanese apps and games on the Android marketplace. Also if you know where to look, you could download the games from somewhere and install them on your phone. Of course that's if your phone allows you to, or if you know how to trick your phone into recognizing them.

For instance, Bitblocks was taken off the Android marketplace for some bullshit reason (the Tetris company claimed copyright infringement) and the programmer OK'd it for people to pass it around online. So I simply downloaded the file somewhere and installed it on my phone.

I'd like to be able to play Before Crisis, Dirge of Cerberus, and Final Fantasy 7 Snowboarding. There's a program I can use to run the games on my PSP but don't have the games because I don't know where to buy or download them. Square Enix doesn't let you buy them off their site unfortunately.

Has anyone actually used the PSP program to run any games on there and do they run well? I know running OperaMini, it is 100x faster than using the PS3 to go online.

I really, really would like to play the remake of Star Ocean: Blue Sphere and also the remake/port of Wonder Project J2, but I'm in the same boat. I don't know of any way that I could do so.

You're not missing out on anything.

Cell phone games are not very good at all.

American ones aren't, but I've heard that Japan actually makes games on their cell phones, not just silly Tetris or Pac-Man clones.

and anyway, bad or not, I still want to play some of them, mostly ones that are part of a franchise I have a pre-existing interest in.

I hope nobody minds me bumping this topic.

Anyway, truth is, there are three Japanese mobile games I'd like to play:

King's Field Mobile (http://www.fromcapsule.jp/kf.html)
King's Field Mobile 2 (http://www.fromcapsule.jp/kfm2.html)
King's Field EX (http://www.fromcapsule.jp/kfex.html)

I'm a big fan of this series, and it bugs me that there are three games in it that seem to be closed off to me. If anyone can help, I'd be much abliged.
