Enemies in classic and modern games alike inevitably contain some sort of elemental boss, mini-boss, or foe. Ever since I was a kid, I seemed to have an aversion to one particular thing: Electricity (though technically a force and not an element) has always been my bane. From base levels in Contra to Jabu-Jabu's belly in Ocarina of Time, I just can't stand it.

It could be that I'm simply a strange man, but I'm curious if others are peeved by similar issues in any particular classic game(s).

Most water levels aren't very good. Too slow and often awkward physics involved. A couple of electricity levels are a little annoying in comparison to others, Elec Man's level in Mega Man 1 for example. Speaking of Contra, Energy Zone is one of my favorite levels in any Contra game, so your mileage may vary.

Ice levels piss me off. Ice is water, so there you have it.

I swear, I thought this would end up as a Captain Planet topic. *shivers*

Captain Planet, huh?

Since there's a Captain Planet villain named Duke Nukem, we'll have to also bet on Duke to make things go full circle.

Not elemental or anything but games with platforms that appear and disappear in the megaman series are the worst.

Didn't Do Rei Me Fantasy revolve around this very aspect? I remember the sun boss pissing me off in that game.

Not elemental or anything but games with platforms that appear and disappear in the megaman series are the worst.Such hings seem to be more common in electricity-themed levels of one sort or another - platforms blinking on and off, lights blinking on and off, sparky barriers flipping on and off, etc. Makes much more sense to put them in electricity-themed levels, it does. (Sure, you can have fires that flip on and off as well, but generally in keeping with the fire theme, they move more slowly.)

I truly hate water levels.
they always seem to slow the game down to a grinding halt, as in Ocarina of Time.
in the case of Majora's Mask, though, that was a fun level, mostly because the zora mask seemed to make everything A-OK
