I bought super meat boy when it was on sale from steam. I want to use my 360 controller with it, but I only have wireless versions. Instead of buying the wireless receiver, can I simply plug it in using the charge and play usb cord?

If not, I'll probably check kijiji for a wired 360 controller, because at least I could use that for both pc and the 360.

Thanks :)

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, because from what I understand the play and charge cable only has power going through it; ie no data is going through the cable. The controller still communicates with the 360 wirelessly.

^ 100% correct

Also if you have a xbox 1 controller laying around you could always make a usb cable for it.

You could also get a wireless receiver - they have several on dealextreme, cheap!

That sucks. Good to know though.

I've actually done that before. Unfortunately, Super Meat Boy only recognizes xbox 360 controllers for some reason. I could frig with tricking the computer into recognizing another joystick as a 360 one, but I'd rather just do it right.

The one you posted is an off-brand one. I've used a few no-name 360 accessories before and they completely sucked. I had a 360 DVD remote and charge station that were no-name and neither worked :(

Is that one that you posted decent?

edit: there are a few reviews on DX - 4 out of 5 - not bad :)
