How do I know which PS2 dvd remote to get? I have a PS2 slim , model SCPH-70001.

(Before anyone asks, no choice in using my ps2 as a dvd player for now, dvd player died a few months ago and haven't gotten a chance to purchase a new one yet.)

The slims have a built-in IR receiver so any Sony PS2 DVD remote should work.

That will work.

Though if you just tossed in $15 or so more with what you'd be spending to purchase and have that remote shipped to you, you could walk into a Wal-Mart and buy a cheap DVD player with remote and save some wear and tear on your game console.


Are universal remotes compatible with slims?

A quick web search indicates that it will work. No guarantee though if every universal remote out there is compatible, but slims will work with at least some.

Check your local Toys R Us, I found a pile of PS2 remotes marked down to 5 bucks back in Nov.

+1 to this. I was at Walmart the other night and they had DVD players for $30. $30!

If you have a Sears near you they are clearancing out their PS2 remotes for $10 or less.

Yes indeed. The 50001 series do have that as well.
