Current and upcoming Pokemon Distribution Events

Tried to search for the old thread, but came up bupkiss, so I'll just start a new one! Gamestop and TRU are giving away a combined FIVE event Pokemon over the next two months, some of which unlock special events in the upcoming Pokemon Black and White games. Each Pokemon will only be available for a week or so, so you'd best get to downloading! You can download them into any of the Generation 4 games (Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Gold and Silver)

January 3-9 - Shiny Raikou @ Gamestop (Any of the three Johto Legendary Pokemon will open up an event in Black and White)

January 17-23 - Shiny Entei @ Gamestop (Any of the three Johto Legendary Pokemon will open up an event in Black and White)

January 30 - Feb. 5 - Ash's Pikachu @ TRU (Moveset and nature is modeled after the Pikachu in the cartoon series, plus comes with a Light Ball)

January 31 - Feb. 6 - Shiny Suicune @ Gamestop (Any of the three Johto Legendary Pokemon will open up an event in Black and White)

Feb. 27 - March 7 - Celebi @ Gamestop (Unlocks special event in SoulSilver/Heart Gold, as well as in Black and White)

Picked up Raikou the other day, but I was wondering...

If I'm new to these games (just started HeartGold, was just told to start looking for gyms or something I think), would using these characters be an unfair advantage? I don't want to breeze through the game with an overpowered character.

Pokemon you don't catch yourself are not prone to listen to you without the proper gym badges, which will force them to do so up to a certain level. So, while these guys have sweet stats, they are not necessarily going to be a very good crutch in battles.

Hoopa is finally being distributed via a download event at McDonald's from November 27, 2015 - December 23, 2015. This applies to both Pokemon X/Y and Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Go to Mystery Gift > Receive via Internet once connected to McDonald's wi-fi.

Also, tomorrow is the last day to get Serperior, Emboar, and Samurott for Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Get these via Mystery Gift > Code (codes are POKEMON497, POKEMON500, POKEMON503).

The gen 5 starters promotion was still going on? Good thing I got those in like January. :D
I suppose I should breed them so I can get extra starters for attempting to trade on GTS for the remaining starters I need.
