A buddy of mine whos been at this alot longer then i have asked me to keep an eye out for a game hes been looking for since the 90's! Thrill kill for ps1...

First thing I do is check ebay and nada... So I google it and find out it was canceled but does any one Know if any official copies were made? My google search lead me to an old thread on another forum that said its been "boot leged to death" whatever that means. He seams to remember there was legit copies in stores way back when but they got pulled of shelves....? Wiki says different...

I figure if anybody knows its you guys!!!

Any ideas or thoughts/info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks !!!!

Thrill Kill never had an official release.

If you see a copy of it on Ebay or elsewhere, it is a bootleg of a leaked prototype, and isn't worth more than the cost of a blank cd.

There is a game that used the Thrill Kill engine. It is called Wu Tang: Shaolin Style.

there is no official, factory pressed release in existence! Only a leaked copy of the prototype that you can find on a burned CD. And Thats all folks!

Your friend is remembering incorrectly. It was never released to ANY store. He may have seen the Mock Cover in a game magazine, as this title was highly publicized.

Thanks guys!!!! I called my friend this mornin and he still swears he saw one. I told him time has a way of messin with your memory. I took a look at the game on youtube and it looked pretty funny. I miss the days when all that was needed to make a game a hot seller was over the top violence!!! LOL

fucking a that game looks friggin awesome!!!!
they should have released it!
or it should get rebooted and brought up to today's standards.

Only question though

i was reading through comments and supposedly this game got canned because the Parental Activist group or some shit like that didn't approve of it.

Another was that EA didn't want anything to do with it after they purchased the company that made it.

My personal opinion is did Clive Barker give them the ok to use a likeness to Pinhead from Hellraiser? cause i saw that in the video i posted. Complete with look alike charecter and the hooked chains and all.

If not then i bet that might be why it didn't go all the way.

as to why your friend might have memories of this being released.

In some of the rumors i read quickly some people mentioned theres a rumor some of the devolpers of this game became enraged that their game they worked hard on wasn't gonna be released and decided F it and made some copies themselves and spread them out so they would be hard for EA to trace down.
Another rumor says they actually printed copies of this and a series of them accidently got shipped out before they were scheduled to and the rest is history.

They should finish it and release it as a download on all the systems. It wouldn't be as controversal today.

Actually, they should do this with other partially finished games.

Just out of curiosity, what would the SKU number be for a game that accidentally got shipped out unknowingly by a company? /eyeroll.

Thrill Kill never made it to store shelves, period.

There are at least two different builds out there. If I remember correctly, one has more FMV than the other (or maybe one has FMV and one doesn't). I seem to remember one had different sound than the other? Anyway, there are full releases of the game as well as multiple beta releases, none of which are particularly hard to find.

I don't think the violent content was the only reason this game got shitcanned. I've played it and it's just sluggish and clumsy. It may even be worse than wrestling games in that regard. It's pretty much unplayable.

I didn't think it was that bad of a game....

There is a copy that you have to hit a certain combination of buttons to start the game(some sort of age warning if i remember correctly) and another where it just goes into the game.

I remember it being pretty fun. I don't think there were any other four-person fighting games out at the time when it "wasn't released"
Oddball was always my favorite, with doctor faustus as a close second.

Indeed, I believe there's at least three builds out there, of which at least one is complete. I have this latter one somewhere, it has a Virgin FMV at the start, which I don't believe the betas do.

I remember when I got my copy from ebay and was pumped to be playing an unreleased game. Normally I would never play a bootleg but I didn't have any choice if I wanted to play this game. From what I remember it was pretty entertaining but nothing too spectacular. It would have been nice if it had been released but theres even less chance of that happening now with the Supreme Court's verdict on violent games still lingering on.

I thought it was an above average game. I am not into fighters, but I did play this game for a few days with some friends. I liked it way better than most fighters. I did just dig out my copy after 12+ years and it will not load. The burn must have went bad. :(

My theory is that this game was only 'interesting to the public' cause of the dominatrix.

As usual!

Wasn't the game canceled because of EA acquiring the original publisher?

Yeah, this game never saw the light of day and it's a shame. It's not exactly a ton of fun to play, but you can't help but laugh at the gore and violence. The Mortal Kombat of the PS1.

Tips and Tricks magazine even had a full strategy guide devoted to the moves list before the game got canceled. So it was very close to getting releasesd.
