Nobody has responded to this thread, I guess there's not a lot of interest.

It looks like I'll actually be off the day of the convention, but I don't know if it's worth going to. I've only been to one sci-fi con, and that was a serious letdown (especially considering I'm only what you might call a 'casual' fan). My cousin and I paid $20 each for admittance, and within 20 minutes we had seen everything there was to see and left. That left a bad taste in my mouth. Strangely, I ran into a friend of mine at that convention, dressed up in a ST: TNG uniform. But other than that, it wasn't very memorable. Not sure if I want to put out the effort again.

I always have a good time at the Dallas Sci-Fi expo. I usually pick up a stack of cheap comics, an action figure or two, and maybe some old paperbacks and magazines (I collect a lot of crap other than video games). It's only $10 to get in, and the celebrities are usually accessible. The women of SF theme this year is sure to be a good one.

Ah well, I had to drive to Waco to pick up my mom from her friend's house. At least I had the opportunity to thrift, although I didn't find anything.
