(Please don't move to the Ebay section, this is for the people that don't check that section)

Do any of you guys find yourselves living on Planet Ebay? Unfortunately, for me, the answer is yes.

I just can't seem to pull myself away from the "My Ebay" bookmark in my favorites. Whenever I get home from work or wherever, the first thing I do is go to the PC and check my Ebay page.

I'm always watching 30 items. I wish I could watch 60 items. I would fill all 60 up easily. This is very Crack like. I need help. I really do.

It's like an internet gambling addiction or something. Everytime my wife walks by and see's my Ebay page up on the monitor, she starts thinking, "Oh, no here he goes again!".

I'm not buying very expensive stuff. 10 bucks here. 7 bucks there. 15 bucks here, 35 bucks there. But damn, after awhile, all this stuff adds up.

Next thing you know, 300 bucks is spent in a couple of weeks!

Man, if only I had bought a ton of Ebay stock when they first hit, then I really wouldn't need to worry about any of this. I would be so filthy rich that it wouldn't matter. If my wife got mad about it, I would just go tell her to cry on a pile of money!

Ebay CAN get very addictive at times. I do shift work which means I'm left with a lot of free surfing time when I get all my work done. One of the sites that is updated frequently is Ebay so I often spend more time than I should on there. Thankfully I've eased off a bit lately as it was costing me a fortune.

Not to mention the fact that I'm running fast out of room!

There are very few games I'm really looking for, so I usually only have a couple items in my watchlist. I usually buy a few things a month on ebay, depending on what I find, and what I get sniped out of.

I once was addicted to ebay though.

I too go there too often, but fortunatly my "Cheap-ass" mentality keeps me from spending too much, however I do check to see what the new TG auctions are every now and again.

I usually visit Plant Ebay once or twice a day. I went from an addict to more of a window shopper. You can still find deals there but its not like it used to be. 8-)

I don't live on Planet eBay, but I do visit from time. I actually make my home on the third moon of eBay, where I live among the Ewoks.

Oh, wait, that's Endor, isn't it? Neeeeeever mind.

I find that being a cheap bastard keeps me from buying a lot of stuff. I used to be HOOKED on eBay, now I'm just a casual lurker.

It looks like the key to surviving daily trips to Planet Ebay, is to become a cheap bastard!

If you are incredibly stingy with your money, you will eventually get bored of going to Ebay all the time and never winning any auctions. So your trips there will be much less frequent, and you won't end up in a bitter divorce!

At least that's the gist of what some of you guys are saying.

I'll definitely have to take this into consideration and try this approach.

Usually, I do try to be very miser like, on Ebay, but when I find something that I really want bad I tend to go a little overboard. That's what I need to watch out for.

The thing about Ebay and Pay Pal, is that it seems almost like you are playing around with Monopoly money, and that it isn't real. Then you see your Bank statement, and it hits you, that you actually spent over 300 REAL DOLLARS! on Pay Pal transfers in a matter of days.

Then the wife see's it, and you are in the dog house big time!

I spend too much time and money on eBay but the worst of it to me is the shipping. If I add up what I pay in shipping and "handling" over the course of a few weeks it easily adds up to a few new games that I could get locally. That's the part that gnaws at me the most.

I'll second the shipping motion. Most of the time I'm searching eBay I not only look for low priced auctions but ones with cheap shipping. If the shipping is more than the item or the seller says buyer to pay actual shipping I don't even bother bidding.I guess this would also include me in the cheap ass group.

I usually go in spurts on ebay. I'll be on it for weeks at a time then I leave it alone for a few weeks.

I really need to start selling, I know I could make a bundle off some of the stuff I've got packed away collecting dust.

Yeah, I learned about the whole "Shipping Factor" pretty damn quick. Now when I'm looking at stuff on Ebay, I always add the shipping price into the whole equation. If the guy has "buyer to pay actual shipping costs", I usually run away screaming too!

You would think that if you bought a game that came in a CD case, that you would simply pay the standard media mail rate to ship a CD. Which is $1.06 to any of the lower 48 states.

But these guys always want to use Priority Mail or whatever. And then that 5 dollar game that you bought ends up costing you 11 bucks! When you could have went to GameStop and snagged it for like 9 bucks instead and saved the headache.

So the shipping is definitely key. Especially when buying systems and large lots that weigh a number of pounds.

It's gotten to the point where now I check the fixed shipping amount before I check anything else!

I wish Ebay could put the fixed shipping amounts by the bid price and number of bidders, before you even click on the item. It would save me so much time.

I usually go in cycles...I'll go nutso for awhile (like recently when I bought about a dozen volumes of Twilight Zone DVDs) and then I'll cool it for awhile. I need to cool it now until the fall TV season debuts...at least. I may try selling more for a change as a way to get my eBay "fix"...

There's two ways to avoid going bankrupt through ebay.

1) Be a tight ass stinge. This works quite well. I tend to come into this category. Mainly because I don't have enough money not to. For the most part, I only buy games in bulk off ebay, and then only when I can sell the ones I don't want for at least as much as I am paying for the whole package. Which leads me to point no.2

2) Sell stuff! It's worth it for all those times you see something in a shop that you don't want, but you *know* will sell for at least double the price tag. And then there is always the odd occasion when something you sell goes for an insane amount of money. Like the time I sold a White Saturn (unboxed, no games, UK joypad) for $350!!

People always complain about ebay pushing the price of things up ... but if you just take the time to sell a little bit, you'll soon find that it doesn't have to always work against you!!

Really trying hard not to be addicted to ebay. I don't tend to buy too much, just browse more than anything, but if I see a bargain come up then I often grab it. Yesterday I was just browsing and saw someone selling Final Fantasy 2 for the SNES with a Buy It Now for $6. At that price (guy obviously didn't know what it was worth), I just automatically hit Buy It Now like I was in some kind of stupor. Ah, the sudden rush, the high, the euphoria! The great thing is that, unlike other stupors, I have no hangover about it this morning and still feel I picked up a real bargain. Shipping was less than $3 too!

I've been buying a number of lots lately. both for the purpose of improving my collection, and to re-sell.
