Anybody pick this up/try it out/play it on MAME before?

I realize it was originally an arcade game, but I'm playing the XBLA version, so that's what I'm familiar with. And is it just me, or does the game's achievements expect a lot from you? 25 million points...30,000 coin combo!? Heck, I'm lucky if I can string together 100. I never claimed to be adept at shooters (far from it), but a lot of these seems really, really out of reach.

Is there some fundamentally wrong with the way I'm playing this game? Or do they just expect Cave-like standards from the players?

I haven't tried it (refuse to support DLC only games), but from what I've read it will require the typical Cave high level play to get the achievements.

Found this strategy guide on shmups.com. Seems pretty good..

The achievements are actually really easy to get if you play in Xbox 360 mode, because you can move your shikigami and your character independently with the two analog sticks. It becomes super easy to get a good chunk of the achievements, as they don't really specify which version you have to play.

Guwange itself is a really hard game to score well in since it has the game-long chaining, but it's fun enough, and a pretty reasonable game to play for survival.
