The main reason I'm posting this is that if there are any of you interested in the game, Amazon posted the listing in error at $19.99. Might as well preorder early and if you want something to put along with your preorder to get it to $25, pick up Yakuza 4 which comes out around the same date. :P

Anyways. I've never played Phantom Brave so not sure how good it is. Is it more similar to Disgaea with minor differences or is it a fairly different game altogether? The reason I ask is because a lot of people know my opinions about Disgaea and La Pucelle, even if I am a bit harsher with those opinions than games that are much worse.

What makes you think it's an error? Buy.com and Overstock are listing it at the same price point. My guess is that after multiple releases with no real changes, they figured out a bargain price point is the only way to move this stinker.

It was previously listed as $49.99 which I also assume was a wrong listing. When it was changed to $19.99, I thought they may have meant to change it to $29.99 like all other NIS RPG titles since most RPGs are never(or rarely?) released at budget rate.

Phantom Brave seems to be often considered "the bad one".

In Makai Kingdom (which for the record is my favorite one), the main character has a line like "IF PEOPLE WANTED DRAMA, THEY WOULD HAVE BOUGHT PHANTOM BRAVE". So if you are in it for the comedy alone you might be somewhat disappointed by it.

On the other hand, it's basically the only one of the series that my girlfriend has played for any extended period of time. Well, that and ZHP.

I dunno, while I had a hard time getting into Disgaea, I completely loved Phantom Brave. I certainly didn't think it was a serious or dramatic game.

I don't think it really is, just perhaps comparatively so to the others in the pseudo-series. I could never really get into it for some reason, although i've been that way about a few of them before despite the similarities.
