I have quite the interest in this title. It seems to be a mix of games like Hotel Dusk and Professor Layton, which is something I can get behind.

Only thing is, I cannot justify the $35 that the local GameStop is charging for it without getting some opinions from people who've actually played it. I don't put much stock in pro reviews anymore.

So, anyone have thoughts on this one?

I got this for Adrienne for Xmas. She hasn't started it yet. Useless post is useless.

This game is definately an interesting puzzler. There are several outcomes based on the desisions you make in this game. The only thing that I did not like is having to re-do some puzzles to get through to other parts of the story. I think this game would have been much better if there was more variety or if you could skip over the puzzles completed.

The story is great and keeps you wondering about the killer and who it may be.

The graphics are well done but it is a interactive novel, so they are really just pictures more or less and only slightly animated.

The games length varies because you are forced to re-do puzzles and look over the same content each play through. The dialog can be skipped over once you have heard it, speeding things up slightly.

Don't know if this helped but that is my experience with it.

Another useless post as I haven't played it yet. In fact I just got my DS a few weeks ago and I've been trying to figure out exactly what kind of library I would like to have for this thing. I started by browsing thru the M titles (Ich bin ein geeezer!) and saw some favorable reviews for 999. I'm leery of text based games but willing to experiment.
I thought the price high myself, so I shopped around quite a bit until I was convinced the Gamestop price was indeed reasonable. Only one of six Gamestops in my area actually stocked the game, so I'm thinking this is a niche title, which is sort of a plus I guess.

This is another title I plan to eventually pick up. No idea when I'll get around to it, and I'm just going by reviews I've read about it.

Once you get through one playthrough you speed by text you've seen already

Another useless post, but I picked this up recently direct from Aksys and it came with a collectible watch for $37 shipped. You might check their website, but I think they sold out.

I pre-ordered this from Gamestop and received no watch so I canceled the pre-order and moved it to something else. I might just order it direct like Cornelius did.

I recognize the cover artist's style but can't place who did it? Is it Bengus' artwork? At first I thought it might be the cover artist who did the SMT: Persona games but the lines are too rough and the shapes aren't as smooth.

I checked their website and the bundles with watches are sold out. Their website also says that they only ship within the United States so I couldn't have got it anyway, which is disappointing. I don't usually buy games at full price but a limited watch would have been pretty cool to have.

I played through the game a week or so ago (didn't do all the other endings yet). I'd say if you liked games like Theresia or Time Hollow then you're likely to enjoy it. Don't expect anything like Professor Layton though. It is a LOT of reading with a puzzle here and there. My major gripe is the text is a bit on the slow side and can't be sped up, when you play again you can skip through text but the second you get to text you have not seen before it's back to that same old crawl.

I went ahead and grabbed a copy. I'm not pleased with the pacing, but the story and puzzles thus far have met expectations. Still kinda hard to swallow that $35 price tag, though.

I managed to grab a copy of the game when Aksys had their 2nd restock, but haven't played it yet (was finishing up ZHP, great game). The watches are all gone according to Aksys, and the prices for the watches by themselves (on ebay) are mind boggling.

I played through the first 15 minutes or so on a friend's copy. The game seems really interesting, but the puzzles in the first couple rooms weren't anything special. It's been getting fantastic reviews, so I'm sure it won't stay too scarce.

Whew....glad I got a watch bundle while I could. I should have got two :( They're averaging $40 a watch now (for a free extra) and they were going for $80ish before the re-release of the bundle.

How'd you get it? Their website says they only ship to the US. :?

They do, and they only take US credit cards and Paypal accounts. Just got someone to buy it for me and ship it to me.

Did you pre-order it in the store or online? I had to pre-order mine online to get the watch, it was not available in the store at all.

I did it through my old store. I completely forgot about the watch till I read this thread. I'm not too terribly worried about it, I've got more than enough pre-order swag around the house collecting dust. :ass: The store up the street from my old one (0752) had a used copy in there a few weeks back but I passed on buying it. I don't recall having seen it new or used in any stores since (though tbh, I haven't really looked that hard).

That said, I haven't been paying as close attention to releases lately. I completely missed that Prinny 2 on PSP had come out! @_@

I just started the game and I'm already stuck on the first puzzle, lol. I went online to see if anyone else was as stupid as me and it turns out that I was missing a clue piece.

Haha I totally did the same thing! I went through it once but got the terrible ending so I wasn't too impressed by that. It was an alright story and reminded me of the Saw movies in a way.

You HAVE to play through 3-4 times to get the good endings....the game isn't designed for a single playthrough at all. You always get a bad ending on the first playthrough, no matter what.

You should catch up with me sometime. If you want I have extra pre-release swag as well. If your interested maybe we could set up a trade.

I can check around if you are having trouble finding it. You know where to find me. :)

Bugger alle, the supply of this one's done gone dried up.

I really just ought to whip out my R4 when it comes to things like this rather than struggling to find someone to give my money to.

I don't know if it is up to date, but the aksys site says they'll get more: http://www.aksysgames.com/store/#nineninenine

Amazon has new copies for $35, shipped free.

Free if you live in the US, you mean.

But as Mr. Cornelius points out, it should be available again soon enough. And hopefully cheaper. ($35 for a new game is still icky.)
