Hi guys. I'm thinking about ordering a 3ds system from amazon. What I'm wondering is if placing a pre order guarantees you a system on release day or if it's an opportunity to buy aka first come first served deal like gamestop. Thanks.

I have never had an issue getting in demand video games or consoles from Amazon as long as I placed the pre-order. They have a very sophisticated stock system that knows how many units they have and have sold down to a single unit. Having said that, in theory Nintendo could screw them on stock allocation, but I pre-ordered Move, Kinect, the Wii, a DSiXL, etc...from them and never had an issue.

I buy and pre-order almost all my video game stuff from Amazon. I have never had a problem and they have very fast and reasonable shipping. After having dealt with Gamestop, I'd much rather order from Amazon. If you have any complaints, they'll at least try to make the situation right with crediting your account and processing a refund, while Gamestop would likely just chalk it up as another customer complaint and not lift a finger.

I think I might put in a preorder for this too. Atleast that way I'd have it around launch if I decide to take the plunge.
