OMG I think I almost lost my mind, I went into a local goodwill and right there by the counter was a friggin' NES toploader. It was is pristine condition--clean and no scratches nor dings. I almost walked right by it. Funny thing is it had two regular NES controllers with it. I look around the store for a few minutes and finally way in the back was a lone dogbone controller! And guess what game came with the system---yep you guessed it super mario brothers/duck hunt. Haha!
The only problem is I think I paid a bit much for it. $49.95. I guess I have to sell some of my other regular NES systems. Whoop what a great day.
:-D
I have never actually played a top-loader before, is the output from it better than the regular NES?

Holy C@rp, This Weeks Finds...
And I thought this post was about religious fish.....
Not a bad buy, at long as it functions. Congrats.

In a word.... no. The output sucks on the toploader. There is no AV output at all, and the RF output commonly has lines. But nice find anyways. You could have paid a lot more at other places to get the same thing!

I have to agree, that's hardly a great score. The system itself is inferior to a toaster and you paid way too much for a "collectable" or tradebait.

How did he pay way too much when he can easily sell it for 75 bucks, or more?
Oh, and my toploader has av inputs. Unfortunately it barely helps.

"Easily" sell it for $75 with only one controller? I don't know about that... Plus, there's a million toploaders on Ebay right now.

OK, maybe he CAN get $75 for it... But as someone who never buys anything to resell unless I can make at least 200% profit on it, it still doesn't strike me as brag-worthy.
Anyone want to buy my toploader? $85 :P

I personally don't see a top loader being worth $50, because it isn't. What it's worth doesn't really matter, it's what people are willing to pay for it, and you can easily turn it around for good profit, especially if you've got a handful of NES carts you can bundle with it and toss it on ebay.

{I posted this in another thread already but it seems more relevant here....}
NES Top-loaders (sigh)...
I got my my one-and-only top-loader (which for that matter, was my first NES) at Goodwill for $5, and a SNES for $10 that same day. No shite. This was back in 1996 when I first started collecting systems in the pre-Ebay salad days.
So get a load of this: I decided I didn't like the top-loader because it didn't have composite video jacks. So I took it to a now-defunct local game store and traded it for a front-loader I had no idea what I was doing, but the old crone behind the counter did. "Sure, sonny. We'll trade straight across. Heh heh heh....".
Nowadays, when I get a penchant to play Shingen the Ruler I am instead greeted by a blinking red power light....
[smacks forehead] STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID!
addendum - Now that some of you have jogged my memory, I do seem to recall that the signal strength on this top-loader just sucked. Still, it would be nice to have one for the sake of completeness.

Hey talk about top loader stories. I picked mine up for 15 bucks about 2 years ago at a st vinnies. Came complete with all hook ups and 2 (yes two) not one, dog bone controllers. Oh yeah, also got a stack of games with it... donkey kong jr, basewars. donkey kong math, mario/duckhunt, ninja gaiden two, ducktales double dragon and smb/duckhunt. I'll never forget that day... I also got a sega cd w/ box and a 32x for 5 bucks. :D . Good find though, I would have picked it up if i were you. congrats on finding a top loader in the wild insteaded of falling to the evils of easy collecting off of ebay.
