I'm looking for the composite cable for my PSP 3000. Does anyone know if the 2000 cable will work? I'm wanting to be able to play my 3000 on my composite tv. I've checked around and been told either cable will let you play your games on a tv. True or false? Also anyone have a max media player for the dslite? Any good or just a waste of money? Thanks.

No it is not. AFAIK the composite cable will ONLY work on the PSP 2000. That being said...I bought one and couldn't even get it to work with my 2000! They're a total pain in the ass to get working...tried on both standard and HDTVs and got nothing.
Also...I think it's a component cable, not a composite one...

I'm assuming you're talking about the product from Datel. Definite waste of money. Why buy that when it's 1GB and is bulky. Just buy a DS flash card and SD card. You'll pay less money, larger amount of space, and won't make your DS have that large hard drive on the back.

Composite cables on PSP only allow for photo viewing.
Component cables are the only way to be able to connect to a TV for gameplay.

I have an official Sony brand component cable for my PSP-3000 and it works great.
The cable plugs in to the head phone/communication port on the bottom of the PSP and then plugs right into my TV. I believe the PSP-2000 cable plugs into a different port and is not compatible with the 3000. The games don't scale to fill the entire TV screen but the area of the screen that it does fill is quite a bit bigger than the PSP screen.
Looks good, sounds good and the games play great. I'm fairly impressed with the output.

The cable is the same between the 2000 and 3000. It is very easy to work. You hook it up, then make sure your psp and TV are turned on and the correct input is selected. Then, this is the key part, you hold down the little display button down (the one you adjust the brightness with) until it shows the TV output screen on your PSP and then you let go of the button. It tells you if you read the instructions that come with it.
Here is a summary of the compatibility:
composite cable: works on psp2000, works on psp3000, same cable - does everything except play games.
component cable: works on psp2000, works on psp3000, same cable - does everything AND plays games.

With homebrew you can use a composite cable for video out with games, but the performance and compatability won't be 100%.

Hmmm....good to know it works on both (I've got 2 x PSP2000s tho). I tried exactly what you said with the component cable and it didn't work on either my CRT or my HDTV though. Will have to dig it out and try again sometime....

Found a Sony Brand Composite Audio/Video Cable for my psp 3000 at a pawn shop for $5. Got home and hooked up my 3000, held down the brightness button and the lcd screen shut off and the picture came up on the tv! And just get into the screen settings and set to 4.3 or 16/9 or whatever it's called to make the picture fit the tv screen to your liking. Sweet!
