I have been very disappointed with the recent fps offerings. To me Halo Reach and Black ops were complete letdowns. I have been following Homefront since it was first announced and it looks really amazing if its what they say it will be. I hope this is finally the fps to get me turning on my xbox again which has been sitting unplugged for months.

Considering the current word is that the game is a real letdown... nope.

I never understood the hype of this one. It looks so generic.

I don't have much respect for the game seeing as they made a novel out of it already. I thought the game was based off the book but no its the other way around.

I think the appeal is with the storyline. It's by the same guy that wrote the movie Red Dawn and it's a very similar story. Personally, I find it interesting as you rarely get FPS games set on US soil and rarely are Americans portrayed as the defenders or rebels instead of the liberators of foreign lands. Having said that, I too have heard and read that the game engine and play mechanics are not up to standards which I hope is not true, so I'll wait and see before deciding what price point I'll pick this up at.

I might just get the Japanese version, if only because the Korean army is replaced by "An enemy from up North".

I think the appeal is with the storyline.

Wait...Kaos chickens out of making China the invading enemy (see Kotaku and Game Informer) and has to substitute North Korea? Lol....Great storyline. Very believable.

If any N. Korean soldiers came here to take us over, I'd just show them the inside of my refrigerator. I'd be their Emperor in a week.

Anyway, Frontlines online multiplayer was pretty good while it lasted. I'm not sure I want to take the $60 plunge to find out if this one is better.

This game is on my "watch" list. Not a day one buy, but at the right price, absolutely. If it reviews reasonably well, I'll pick it up at full price no problem.

I've been playing this since last Tuesday. My opinion so far...

Single Player Campaign: Simply put...one of the worst FPS's I've ever played. So flawed and glitched on the hardest difficulty it's not even funny. Where to start?

Terrible AI, voice acting, physics.
Shitty, embarrassing dialog (think: Haze).
Completely inconsistant hit detection.
Getting shot from behind solid cover.
Allies always getting in the way...pushing your character when you get in the way of their scripted paths.
Infinitely re-spawning enemies.
Enemies spawning out of thin air directly in front or in back of you.
Checkpoints start BEFORE cut scenes. Imagine COD Veterans difficulty where every time you die, you have to wait several seconds for staged dialog/action to finish before you can get back to the action.

Ugh. Fucking awful.

I feel that I have to beat this game so that I maintain some dignity. I paid $42 for this. That has to be answered for.

Mulitplayer: Much better. Weak feeling weapons. Snipers take no skill. Overall it's still pretty fun. It's like a budget Battlefield with a little faster pace. I don't like being unable to choose where to spawn though. If Crysis 2 multiplayer turns out to be a dud...I could see myself playing this for a few months.

honestly, i found the single player campaign to be really good lol
but to be fair, i rented this from redbox and beat it in a single sitting, so im sure if i had paid retail for this, i'd be singing a very different tune

the "shitty" graphics i heard so much about was a complete exaggeration, i mean i wouldnt run out and give this game any awards based on their graphics either, but they still got the job done, i found the main characters to be adequately detailed and designed, but for generic soldiers, ehhh not so much, alot of the soldiers were composed of some of the muddiest textures i've ever seen on any console since the ps1 days from the neck down, that would probably be my only complaint

overall i found the story to be a fun little 4 hour distraction, didnt deliver as advertised but then again, i wasnt expecting it to, i guess really your enjoyment of the game is really determined by what expectations for it you walked in with and how much you paid for it

for the 2 dollars i paid and lowered expectations, i fucking had a blast, give this a game a strong 7.5 -weak 8 out of 10

im even thinking about renting this for the ps3 this time just to try out the multiplayer, anyone wanna chime in and let me know if the community is still active or share any reviews on the online?

I'd give you my copy, but it's currently being used as a drink coaster.

I didn't bother with this one though my bro did he said it was alright but we were both pissed when we found out it would cost us 10 bucks to play online since the previous owner of our used copy had already activated the online play

Now that I've played the multiplayer demo I have to agree. Who taught those guys how to implement hit detection? People were shrugging off my bullets as if they were invincible. I did like some of the vehicles you could use but beyond that I wasn't really impressed. I'm glad I passed this one over.
