Hi Forum!
Today I noticed that my two boxed copies of the Japanese Pocket Monsters Blue are different.
You may know that one of them was originally sold as mail-order, and only in 1999 was it released in stores. One of the games has the code DMG-APEJ-JPN on the box and the other one has DMG-APEJ-JPN-1 on the box (when you open it, on the inside).
Does anyone have some more information about which game is rarer? Because I was thinking I should sell one of them.

The -1 just denotes that it's a revision cart. There could be bug fixes/updates etc on that cart. I don't think, due to the sheer popularity of the game and the massive numbers produced that one is noticably rarer than the other.

I'm not even sure there's much demand for one version over the other unless there are difference to box/art or the game itself. If you do want to sell one tho Amazon is your best bet, as the markup is a good four times anywhere else. (Yeah, you can sell these for around $40 CIB or more. Midori - Green goes for even more.)

Well, there is a difference on the box. The back bottom half with the warning and information messages is different.
I know that they will probably sell for about the same. The thing is, I would like to sell the most common one and keep the rarer one for myself...
Thanks for the tip of green, I increased the opening bid for it on my auction.

Eh? Auction as in Ebay? No, the price is only high on Amazon. I buy these on Ebay all the time and resell them on Amazon for triple or quadruple what I spent.

really only if the artwork is different than it would be more desirable. I doubt anybody cares about what the warning label reads.

My boxed Pocket Monsters Blue lacks a barcode on the box (both my Red and Green have barcodes)
and the game itself is labelled DMG=APEJ-JPN G748783.
hm, I guess I own the mail order version then?
