Genesis. Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, and 3 are enough reasons for me to like it better then the other Sega systems.

sega genesis has my vote! graphics, sound and game play was amazing! i got my genesis shortly after the launch and i was so happy with it. this system kept adding on to its library and i remember having trouble deciding which game to pick up. we didn't have testing stations/demo units, so i was unsure what i was getting into. any how, out of the 40+ games i bought back then, i was pleased with maybe 85% of them. this system has great rpgs, adventure's, action and what really made sega standout for me..... was their great sports games! i was totally into all the world series/rbi series.

My vote goes for the Sega Saturn. For starters it was my first Sega console. I was highly impressed! Their games were fresh and exciting, and honestly some of my best video game hrs were spent on the Sat.
Sega Master for me, it's always been a consistent part of my living room through the years and i play it regularly, too many games to mention but the ones that are arcade ports are the ones i love the most like shinobi, rastan space harrier etc.
when i was a kid me and my younger cousin were the only ones who had a sms in our area as far as we knew, everyone else had a Nes, and even then i felt sorry for them because of all the games they were missing out on, meanwhile there were so many nes's out there i always had easy access to, but never really got into it, kids were spending small fortunes playing games like altered beast while i had it in my living room funny thing is, my parents bought me that sms not really knowing the difference between one system and another, and i benefitted from their ignorance hehe

I don't know why but I just love my Sega Saturn and the games I own for it. Second up would be dead even for Genesis and Dreamcast.

Gotta go with Genesis. There's so many games I enjoy on it- Gunstar Heroes, Splaterhouse 2, MUSHA, Revenge of Shinobi, Castlevania Bloodlines- the list goes on.
Dreamcast comes in a very close second, though.

My favorite systems is
Genesis/Megadrive: I got this system from a friend of my mothers back in 1993. It was the model 2 system with the six-pack and one controller. My god I remember playing Streets of Rage, Sonic, and Columns the most. The sad thing is that I had to get rid of that Genesis because my father force me to (around 2002 or so). Years later a friend from school gave me a free Genesis for my brithday with Sonic 1 and 2 and one controller. Since I been playing emulators over the last four years, I know all the good games now. And every since, I was collecting games for it. Playing Streets of Rage 2 on my speaker system (composite and audio cables) is a dream come ture. Playing Sonic 1, 2, and 3 was a dream come true as well. I'm a huge fan of shumps, and my goodness the Genesis has a lot of shmups for it. The Thunder Force games were OMFG this is the S***, then it was the ultra great M.U.S.H.A which it great on my speaker system. Then it was the great Toaplan convertions (Hellfire, Fire Shark, Zero Wing). Now the best part was Gunstar Heroes, and the rest is history.

I voted for the Dreamcast, and was surprised that it wasnt leading the pack when I saw the current toll. The Genesis does have some fond memories attached to it for some of us, I'm sure. But considering how it did against the SNES at the time as far as quality of games released, the Genesis is a failure (for my taste in games, anyhow).
The Dreamcast, while shortlived, was a beauty. The amount of must-play games on this system was just stunning. Seaman, Virtual Tennis, Sonic Adventures, Skies of Arcadia, Tonnes of Arcade Fighting Games (Soul Calibur!), this list goes on for nearly 40 titles. Sega came out with so many groundbreaking first party titles that tested a new market. Using the VMU make a console game have portible features that were incorperated in the main game, Effectively using a microphone to communicate with a fish man, and brining us online gameplay on a console (effectively) for the first time....
The Dreamcast holds a special place in my <3.

I went with the Dreamcast. I only got mine recently in 2003 because I had money difficulties before that but I always wanted one back in the day. I love all the easy to play arcade games on it, Dynamite Cop, SEGA Bass Fishing, House of the Dead 2 and such the most! :D It also has alot of good story driven games I really like as well like Shenmue and Resident Evil Code Veronica to round out the package.
If I could rank them in order of preferance heres mine:
Dreamcast
Genesis/Mega Drive
Saturn
SEGA CD
Master System

This is an extremely tough choice, but I give the nod to the Dreamcast. I remember being absolutely floored by NFL 2K and Soul Caliber. Plus, I just can't turn my back on innovative titles like Samba de Amigo. However, the Genesis is a VERY close second. I have such fond memories of taking home my first Genesis and being wowed by a nearly perfect arcade port of Altered Beast. Plus, I've spent many hours engulfed in the strategic joy that is Herzog Zwei. While it's true that I've spent more total hours with a Genesis controller in hand than a Dreamcast one, it's the Dreamcast that I still play to this day.

Dreamcast. The Genesis is a great console but always came second to the SNES for me. I only got into the Dreamcast after it had been disconitued but have slowly discovered what a great set of games it has. Such a shame it wasn't a success.

Even before clicking on the topic I had a feeling that the Genesis was going to be the number one, Dreamcast at number two, and Saturn at number three. I fully agree with the order thus-far.

The Genesis has my vote. It had a large library of classics that helped define the 16-bit era and inspire future generations.

I voted in Genesis, known as Mega Drive in Worldwide.
The best Sega system and excellent games from arcades likes Golden Axe, E Swat and Shadow Dancer, own franchises likes Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage and Revenge of Shinobi, and games from softhouses likes Electronic Arts, Konami, Capcom, Technosoft and Wolf Team.
I had to vote for the only sega system I ever had, the Genesis. I'm a gamger, but I don't have that kind of money.
However, I stil have my original Geneis, and play it from time to time. Still lover Altered Beast, Golden Axe, and Outlander (I think I got the name right - cool underdog game with a Mad Max theme)!

I picked Genesis. I sega made very good game consoles on what I own except for the 32x. Sega genesis was the sega system I spent the most time on. Had the best Varity of games on a sega system. That system introduced to rpg's in a way and showed me they are not as lame as Dragon Warrior 1 was to me. Master System was 2nd and Dreamcast was 3d.

Recently arrived in these parts so after doing a search... I gotta' put in my $1.80s' worth. I vote for the MEGA DRIVE. Even though the SATURN was a 2-D monster and could push more sprites, the 16-Bit MD is king of all their systems IMO, and I'll stand by that till judgement day.

I'd have to say the Genesis, which isn't a huge surprise to anyone. The fact you can also use it to play the Sega CD and 32X library is a bonus.

The Saturn was and is the greatest of all that was SEGA. The Saturn could do all of the past hardware. The slot in the back was originally meant for genisis games and thus Mark I-III games.
It had extra chip inside to be twice as powerfull as the PSX but you would have to be a great programmer to make the outcome you desire. Shenmue on SAturn was jaw droping in graphics.
Saturn was probably the first 3d console to make graphics in a fighting games where items come off in 3d as with Vega's mask in 2D. You can play VCD 1 and 2 with your regular Saturn and with no boot disc.
The Saturn probably was the only console that functioned like a Gameboy where you can link two together to play on seperate screens. That is like early in house lan. About lan they had X-band on the Saturn and Swap cards ( like the ones they have in the dryer rooms now).
Especially for the Japanese the Saturn had many Japanese based titles while in the USA the Saturn had a crappy camipage. I mean theyt released like three or four variants of Christmas Nights in the USA.
Tomb Raider was really a Saturn game also. Until Sony snatched them. There is like dozens of models flying all over the place.
If you wanted to make a Saturn game you just need to get a Macintosh G3 and some programming tools. So it is very cost edffective to make Saturn games.
The Saturn is diffrent and it stands out. Sega we all know is know for doing things ahead of time. The Saturn along with the Mega Cd and Mark-III along with there titles is
The Saturn might be in the class of the SNES or PSX but the Saturn had that special SEGA style written all over it.
The dreamcast was overkill and kinda pointless. Everything the Dreamcast did the Saturn can do even if it is a lesser console.

Voted for the comedy option, 32X.
Seriously though, who the hell wouldn't pick the Genesis? Well, actually, the Dreamcast was pretty good... I probably would've picked it if it hadn't died after two years.

32X
The 32X was wonderful the only problem was that like the Sega CD they charged to much for the crappy add-on which did or had barely anything.
Sega had three systems on top of each other. One on the bottom and one on the top and they were both pratically:snipersmile: *_* :rockets: eash other.
The Sega CD just gave us better sound and video quality and the 32X gave us more 3d quality.
What is even worst the SNES did all of the above and even more and was cheaper.
Then they were going to start using add-on technology like the FX chip for the Super Nintendo.
Instead that never really occured since it was going to proably cost us the price of another system but would have given the 32X the power of the Saturn or even the N64 or greater then the following.

I voted for SMS. I grew up with it and the games on there are just a lot of fun to play, especially the arcade translated games. Shinobi is easily one of my favourite games of all time. Genesis would probably reign second or even the same in my opinion.

I voted for the Dreamcast. I think there's a far better ratio of great games to bad ones than other Sega consoles.

Honestly, the Dreamcast turned me into a Sega fanboy, and really got me back into console gaming. I grew up on the C64 and the nintendo iterations up to the N64.
When the DC fell in price, I hopped on it. Pure bliss. Unbelievable library for a "failed" console; easily my favourite console of all time. Since then, I bought a Saturn last year, and my Nomad/Genesis auction I won last week will put me in possession of 16 bit heaven.

I had a very difficult time voting here... My first inclination was to vote for the SMS because this machine truly introduced me and my family into the wonder world of gaming. In fact I remember being very upset when my father brought home a SMS because we wanted a NES like all our friends. Looking back on it later having the SMS started a life lone Love Affair with Sega.
Ultimately I ended up voting for the Sega Cd... actually the CDX! This has got to be one of the greatest machines made. Extremely compact design containing the Genesis and Sega CD in one machine the size of a portable CD Player. It was small and sexy… a well engineered piece of hardware. This machine truly changed the way I played because it could go anywhere with me. It also didn't hurt that my favorite game Lunar was available for the sega CD. Disappointing that there was a total lack of good software for such a great machine.

The Dreamcast is my all-time favorite console, though the MegaDrive/Mega CD/32X is a very, very, very close second.
It was my Saturn that turned me from a blind Sony/Square fanboy to Sega. It was my 32X a year later (August 2001) that really got me into collecting games as a whole. Got my Mega CD in November 2001, and my Dreamcast in January 2002. The rest is history.
All I've gotta say to my pre-Sega fandom...
Sega > Sony, and Phantasy Star > Final Fantasy (Phantasy Star II especially).

I voted for the good ol' Sega Genesis, its my favorite Sega console, along with my favorite console of all time. The Sega Genesis was the system that got me into collecting, just becuase I wanted to play some of my old favorites. After I found, then bought all the games I had as a kid I found this website and bought some more games to try that were supose to be good. The rest is history, I started collecting Sega Genesis games almost reglishly and now I am only 47 Sega Genesis games away from owning all 708 U.S. released Genesis games.

Genesis was the vanilla of Sega's console history. The most accessible, sure, but the least exotic. It was pretty blaise, and for having such a huge library, there really weren't that many great games.
To me the Sega Master System, Dreamcast and Saturn are almost all on par for all being totally innovative design-wise. Each one offered glorious advances over competing consoles (3D glasses and two game slots with the SMS, VMUs and built-in modems with the Dreamcast, and internal hard drives and internet access with the Saturn) in terms of hardware, and because of the lack of third-party support Sega had to do it on their own, releasing an amazing percentage of quality products all by themselves.
Still, the Saturn ranks the highest for me, not only because I think the Saturn architecture is the most fascinating and well put together of the bunch, but also because of the sheer amount of quality first-party titles. There were so many amazing arcade ports (which was a revelation considering most arcade ports on the previous generations of systems were mostly major downgrades), and so many totally original games. It's a testament to the innovation behind Sega at the time that games like NiGHTS, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Astal, Clockwork Knight and Mr. Bones all stand out as truly one-of-a-kind experiences. Add in all those great RPGs from Working Designs (which were mostly ports from Sega of Japan titles) and there's no question the Saturn was the great system nobody ever knew about.
