Hmm. Didn't we recently have a religion-themed game as a Random Game O' the Day? Perhaps this is a subliminal message from above?

What can I say about this one? It's one of Wisdom Tree's best games, IMO. Essentially it's a board game where you'll also face an action screen where you have to collect food bits using your utensil and bombs (!), and there are obligatory bible trivia questions that unfortunately you need the separate book to refer to. It actually plays pretty well.

What are your thoughts on the game? And if you're particularly daring, you can still BUY this game new at Guiding Light Video (http://www.guidinglightvideo.com/shop/games3.html). Write your mini-review here.

DP Guide sez:

Bible Buffet (Nintendo NES, by Wisdom Tree) $10/R6
Designed by Roger Deforest. This video board game uses a thick book of Bible questions included with the game for certain sections. You can play well enough without it, however. Unlicensed. Voice-enhanced. Released 1993.

Hey, wait. Didn't I see this one on The Simpsons?

"Can we play now?"

"But you ARE playing."

"...Hooray!"

Voice enhanced? For a NES game?

There's only a few games I can think off from my NES days that had voice at all in them. :)

BTW, DP, is your new icon the picture of the ICOM from Star Control III? God, I wanted to love that game, especily since I'm a huge SC nut.....but the game was only average. One reason I bought a 3DO last year was just so I could finally play the voice and graphic enhanced SC2 for that system. :D

I'm sorry, Dave. He doesn't have that information.

Star Control III was a different developer (Legend) than SC I/II (Toys for Bob), and it was painfully obvious. One of SC III's writers came to Working Designs for a very brief stint as webmaster -- he had great web skills and no social skills -- and I somehow resisted the urge to berate him every day for desecrating one of my favorite franchises. (Then again, I wouldn't want people hounding me about my part in the desecration of Silhouette Mirage, so never mind.)

A group of hackers are working on a PC conversion of the 3DO conversion of the PC version of SC II (heh), although I forget the name of their website, and I haven't checked the status of the project in a while.

Apologies for hijacking the topic. I just really, really like Star Control.

You know who's a Christian game designer? Doug TenNapel of Earthworm Jim fame. He even signed my copy of Earthworm Jim for the Sega CD with a reference to Deuteronomy, chapter 25, verses 11 and 12:

"If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity."

Doug TenNapel rules.

I would like to go on record right now and say that Bible Buffet is absolutely no fun if you don't have any of the paperwork to go with the cartridge. In that condition, I would have to have rate it lower than Quadra-Doodle (but higher than Where's Waldo).
