Hey there

german game mag Maniac had a review with SNK Neo Geo CC USA President Ben Herman in their latest issue, i thought some people would enjoy a translation ;)

so, here we go (Maniac,Ben Herman)

What's your favourite SNK game?

Baseball Stars

No Kiddin? Will we see a "Baseball Stars 3" for Neo Geo then?

If i could decide, yes. But that's something Playmore Japan has to decide. It would be a great thing with X-Box-Live support.

As we are talking about the recent consoles - how long do u think will Playmore/SNK support the 16-Bit-Neo-Geo-System?

Definetly as long as the customer wants it. As the demand for "KoF" and "Metal Slug" is still there, i think there will still be some new Neo Geo games for some years.Altough we are a 2D-only-company in most fans view, we do want to explore new fields. Our first try will be "King of Fighters 3D" for PS2.

Will Playmore support the Gamecube

I do personally really like Nintendos hardware, but supporting it would be to time- and costintensive. We will wait for the next generation

What games are being developed for PS2 and Xbox right now?

"KoF 2000" and "Kof 2001" will be released as bundle priced like one game for PS2. Besides those "Kof 2002", "Metal Slug 3" and at the end of the year "SNK vs. Capcom", of which we have planned a Xbox-Conversion - i've forced that personally. There will also be a "Metal Slug" for GBA

Speaking of "SNK vs. Capcom": Which influence did Capcom have on this game?

As this is (like the "Capcom vs. SNK" games released by Capcom) a Joint Venture, Capcom has made some Character suggestions - but Playmore has the last word this time. I think that we will give a fantastic game to our fans.

One question that a lot of Neo Geo fans have is if the old "KoF", "Fatal Fury" and "Metal Slug" teams are still working for SNK/Playmore?

Well, i don't know every employee at our company, but i think we have gathered a lot of the old staff.

Will SNK/Playmore return to Europe?

YES! It's planned for 2004. I'm not able to say where and to which extent this will happen though.

Will there be sequels to "Last Blade", "Fatal Fury" and "Art Of Fighting"?

Afaik there are no plans like this right now. This hasn't got to be a final decision though. We will look how the "KoF"-Series and also "Samurai Shodown 5" will develop - then we can look further.

end of interview

Also Metal Slug 3 (PS2) was reviewed in this issue: 82%
and Matrimelee was rated with 3 of 5 Stars
