Keep getting "Sub battery is dead" message on my NGPC

I've had an NGPC that didn't have an internal battery inside laying around for a couple years, and a few days back I decided to finally put one in. I bought a brand new CR2032 and put it inside, and since then it was working fine.

However, now whenever I turn the handheld on the red light flashes, and when I turn it off it gives me the sub battery is dead message. Is there something wrong with the handheld or should I just try a different battery?

Are the contacts in good shape? The metal ones that touch the battery?

Try cleaning them to see if that helps. If not, try changing the battery or test the existing one for correct voltage.

I had an extra battery around so I put that one in. Before I did I cleaned the compact up a bit as well. It didn't look bad, but who knows what gathered in there the years it was laying around. Used it a couple times since and no problems, but I'll have to wait and see if it acts up again in a day or so.
