I was thrilled to find a complete Maxi 15 on eBay a couple weeks ago. The seller had a great listing put together, with a list of all 15 games and some pictures. According to the list, this was the slightly more rare version of the Maxi 15 which included the games Death Race and Blackjack (an R8, as opposed to the R7 version which had Pyramid and Double Strike instead).

It was listed with a BIN price of $100 and free shipping. Considering I don't see the R8 version that often, and it was complete (though not in super great shape, still nice), I jumped on it.

Well, of course, it came in the mail and it was the R7 version, not the R8. This was a pretty big disappointment. I own over 2,000 games now, but only have two R8s. I would've really liked to score another one. Even more disappointing was that the back of the box lists the games plain as day. The seller just didn't pay any attention.

So I contacted the seller, told him what was up. I told him I was happy to keep the game, as I needed the R7 version anyway, but that I never would have payed the $100 price for the R7 version. I asked him if he would consent to a 20% refund, and he did, immediately. He said he was unaware of the different versions, saw the R8 game list on another listing and just assumed he had the same thing. Fairly easy mistake to make if you're unaware, really.

So, I got $20 back and wound up paying $80 for a complete R7 copy of the Maxi 15 in mostly decent shape. Not too bad, in the end.

But I sure would've liked to get that R8 version.
