Hi. I'm considering importing a batch or two of Gamekings. I was wondering if anyone around here would be interested in buying one, and if so, what model?

EVERYTHING BRAND NEW.

Gameking I (gm-218) would be the cheapest. about $30 US. Would come with a random 4in1 cart (+3 built-in games).

Gameking II (gm-219) backlit. About $30-35 US. Would (quite possibly) come with a random 4in1 cart (+3 built-in games)

Gameking III (gm-220) Backlit and full color About $45 US. Comes with built-in game (a space shooter).

Each model has various pros and cons. The GK1 is the most strait-forward (nice Nintendo style D-pad too). The GK2 is backlit. The GK3 is quite rare outside of asia, and is full color and backwards compatible. Unique design as well.

Could also import a large batch of games, at a later date.
Any interest folks???

which ever model sparks the most interest. Which one would you most likely purchase?

I would be interested in getting the Game King III, since I already have the first one.

Which one are referring to? @_@

Personally I love it. If you can have fun with an Atari, I bet you'll find it worthwhile. 60+ games. primitive ports of double dragon, contra, mario, streetfighter, batman, megaman, silver surfer, lots of shooters. How can you go wrong. :)

I searched google and youtube, and I couldn't find any screenshots or video of the Game King III's gameplay. I'm curious about it.

I have a Gameking 2, but I was under the impression there was only like 15 or so games made for it. Looks like I need to do some research.

I have about 85-90 % of them, the games I mean. And with nothing better to do, I sorted and catalogued them into a complete-ish checklist using the serial numbers above the barcodes. Anyway, the best the internet can offer (wiki) is embarrassingly incomplete. For now anyway. Until I can get my article finished, take my word on this, there's about 70 games for the GK 1&2, which are backwards compatible on the GK3. And the GK3 has maybe 14 "short-carts", which only work on the GK3.

There is none online. Zero. I'll shoot some video soon. Give me a week or two. I have screen caps I could put up today, but I'm sick and tired of not having my images load correctly. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TEACH ME HOW TO PUT THEM DIRECTLY ON THE PAGE AND NOT JUST LINK TO A FLICKER ACCOUNT. I'm bad at this.

you upload them somewhere, say imageshack. Then click the icon above where you type the message, it looks like a mountain on a yellow background (next to the hyperlink planet+chain). It asks for a link, put a direct link to the image (should end in .jpg or .png or something). Then click ok :D

OR

you can take the link for the image (same as above, direct link) and put it like this

INSERT LINK TO IMAGE

Since there are GK 3 specific games, I think it makes sense to order GK 3s. Does anyone disagree?

I checked the wiki page for the GK and I think a GM-221 would be the best model.

edit: I just rewatched ashen's review of the GK 1 and 2 - the GK 2 has that stupid background of the mountain - does the GK 3 have this?

that background is removable. It's easy to do. plays awesome after that liitle mod :)

no. GK3 screen has no background thingy. It's bright and colorful, rather like a turbo express screen, with much lower resolution.

Cool - I'm in, I'd love to get one of the cool looking ones. A few of the GKs look god awful. It'd be cool to get a few multi carts or something.

here's pics of the GK1(gm218), GK2(GM219), and GK3(GM220). Colors will be completely random. But once they arrive, we can do a "first come first served" deal, regarding color.

Here's some screen caps. The GK1 and GK2 have the exact same screen. The only difference is the backlight on the GK2. The GK2 comes with a permanent background in front of the LCD which is incredibly annoying (usually it's a landscape). It can be easily removed, as I have done here, which allows the machine to function quite well. The GK3 is fully compatible with ALL games made for the GK 1 and 2. They are automatically colorized, as you can see. Sometimes this compliments game-play, sometimes not :)

This is a shot of the GK's Silver surfer clone Surf Escelon/Dracula Zone. As you can see, its a bit easier on the eyes than the cap of Dino Adventure, shown above. Its all completely arbitrary.

The GK3 has slightly better resolution than the previous models, of roughly 1 1/2x. It is designed to play a line of "graphically enhanced" games. These are not very easy to find, but you can get a taste, below with the game "Galaxy Crisis", the GK3's built-in space shooter. Not a bad game either.

* Please note the screen caps for the GK3, above are of the GM-221, not the GM-220. Both units have the same screen and features. I'll be ordering the GM-220. Which just for the sake of driving the point home, appears again below, this time in lovely silver.

nice pics. Why order the 220 instead of the 221? I think the 221 looks badass.

Hey, I don't disagree ( I really like them both, for different reasons). regardless, the GM-221 is too hard to find, and more expensive.

Cool, then my vote is for the GK III, model 220. Hopefully we can get an extra game or something.

ok. Yeah if the initial batch of consoles is well received, there will certainly be opportunities to purchase a variety of games. Importing can be a pain, so I want to proceed cautiously.

ok, it's official. The initial order has been placed. 16 GK3's are on their way. (plus a couple GK1's & 2's for good measure, as more than one person expressed an interest in acquiring a whole set in one purchase.

I plan on spending the rest of the week gathering contact info from everyone that's expressed interest, so I can send an email to all customers simultaneously, and send the units out first-come first-served, as payment is received. I'm sure a variety of colors will be available, but again, that will be buyer's choice, first-come first-served.

Thanks for the response and feedback.:)

I suppose I'd be interested in a GKIII too... You mentioned being able to get games; could you get particular titles, or would it be a crap-shoot? And how much would they be per cartridge?

When I got the GK I back in the day, it actually came with an assortment of 14 games. Is this the case here also? Or will we get to choose any games we get?
