Does anyone know of any good videos posted of classic game reviews that are pretty good, other than AVGN? I've looked around and some are ok but I havn't found any that keep my atention.

No! Not him again! ARGH!!!!

I know someone from the forums does video reviews...don't remember if it was "Press Start" or someone else. I think Mike from GameGavel does reviews too.

I like Classic Game Room. Not so much CGR Undertow though, Derek's voice kinda gets to me.

I'd recommend:

http://spoonyexperiment.com/ - Spoony's reviews, especially for the Final Fantasy reviews. He does bash on them quite a bit, but even as a fan I enjoyed them.

http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/show/show-jew-wario - JewWario, who does "You can play this", reviews of Japanese games accessible to English-speakers. Fairly entertaining and informative if you're getting into imports.

http://www.ashens.com/ - Ashens does hilarious reviews of old uk computer games and various crappy lcd games (popstations) as well as just various tech.

I'm fairly sure they're all affiliated with thatguywiththeglasses.com or blisteredthumbs.net in some way or another.

I vote for Ashens since I had to check on his review of the GameKing (refer to the buy and sell section)

There's a show my buddy showed me once called Continue, where these three guys play an old game and vote on whether or not they would keep playing it (continue) or not (game over). I just don't remember where on the web he found it.

Pat the NES Punk (http://retrowaretv.com/PatTheNESPunk/tabid/451/Default.aspx) is who I would recommend. There's a bit of an underlying story between most of the videos so you may want to watch them in order.

Hey Megas. Thanks for the nod...I think.

Yeah, I'm the guy on here that does retro reviews too. Check out my YouTube page and tell me what ya think. Lots of old-school goodies, btw. :D

+1 for Classic Game Room!

I really like their reviews. The guy knows his stuff and the reviews usually contain the info that I want, without all the over the top BS that AVGN and other similar reviewers do.

Theres very few, cause when people try to review a game they get bashed for copying AVGN (hence, why I hate AVGN, Irate Gamer is still my most hated however)......

I don't really like that Inecom guy's reviews. Sorry, but after seeing him give a glowing positive review for SNK Arcade Classics on the PS2 (probably the single most broken game I've ever played on the system), I just can't trust him to review any older game.

Pat the NES Punk is okay. His reviews are informative and entertaining but there's something about him that just... freaks me out. It might be the hair. :p

I have to give a nod to Classic Gameroom as well. It's a pretty entertaining show, and I think the guy's dead pan delivery is hilarious. I used to think that he was in character, but he really just sounds like that. I also really like Turbo Views a lot, though it's TurboGrafx specific.

I always recommend Classic Game Room. They are the God-Tier standard for youtube game reviews. I don't know about the Undertow Crew though. They have good insights and cover the games they review well enough... Mark is just better at the whole format, by quite a bit. Maybe they'll develop a style once they get going.

Happy Console Gamer I've subbed to for quite sometime, but he hasn't been putting out videos last few months. His videos are not really reviews either. He does series retrospectives, system/game showcases and highlights... He either goes broad view, or gets super detailed but he rarely focuses either style on one thing.

I'll second happyconsolegamer. I like him even though sometimes he's a bit of a douche.

As for classic gameroom, I dunno I've been a subscriber for a long time and have gotten very bored with his videos. They're all so similar that it's tiring.

Third HappyConsoleGamer. I don't see how he's a douche at all. But as Icarus said, they're not really reviews, in the objective critical sense -- just a good-quality production where a guy spotlights and talks about classic games that he loves.

It looks like he's going to do a crossover with the AVGN, check out his NWC video in addition to some interviews he did with James.

I'd say Chrontendo is worth watching but I think the scope would go over the heads of most people that are just looking for a 10 minute game rant. I really enjoy it though and consider it both entertaining and important in an educational / archival way.

I prefer text and pics over slugging thru a video of someone ranting. But if I do want to see JUST the gameplay, I hit GoogleVideo and catch a game on YouTube.

Here is an oldie to give you an idea:

Yeah I might be biased. He reminds me of of an old friend of mine that I really liked, but he was a total douche hipster. The happy console guy shares some of his tendencies so it probably triggers something in my head.

Anyway I really dig all of his videos, they're awesome.

I double the surprise at lack of mention/love for the Happy Video Game Nerd. His reviews are fun to watch and he readily acknowledges the influence James Rolfe had on him as far as online reviewing goes. I'm also surprised no one mentioned http://www.retrowaretv.com/ an entire site full of reviews and reviewers.

They're probably not being mentioned because the majority of us are aware of HVGN, and I think some Retroware people post here.

I thirty-third the Happy Video Game Nerd. He's currently my favorite reviewer.

Thanks to him I also discovered Pat the NES Punk (also from Retroware) and Video Game Take Out, which focuses on portable games.

I thought of doing my own review show (focusing on underrated games) but its turning out to be harder than I thought and I'm just learning the ropes of video editing. Still, if it works...

I don't think most people even realize Classic Game Room has text reviews on the main site. It seems like so many are locked to the YouTube page and that's it.

But yeah, there's a home site with text stuff... and I write a lot of it. So there.

I'll second Game Sack. They're one of the few Youtube "reviewers" I watch, not particularly caring for Youtube reviews in general.

Game Sack is pretty great, even if I giggle at the name like a 12-year old. They're not the most natural on-air personalities, and they acknowledge it and make fun of themselves a bit.

Shameless plug here, here's Retro Hardware the show I do for the Game Station channel on youtube:

I mainly cover consoles, but I did do a spotlight on Treasure.
