Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. SNES version includes Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man (I've heard the Genesis one replaces Ms. Pac Man with Pac-Man Jr.)

I love collections in general. There are a lot of games I would never have played if they weren't in a collection of some sort, including:

The Ultima Collection for PC (my introduction to Ultima)
The Ultimate RPG Archives for PC (when I became serious about Ultima, I bought this just to have the two Underworld games, but it also gave me the complete Bard's Tale and an introduction to Might and Magic)
The Might and Magic Archives for PC
R-Types for PS1
Phantasy Star Collection for GBA (sucks that PS1 crashes though)
King's Field: Dark Side Box for PS1/2. This thing is awesome.

Also, I love all of Sierra's "Collection Series" releases, and own a large number of them, in a few cases I've still got the boxes and documentation as well.

I love compilations too! It's a shame the ones I want never seem to get released. My favourites ones are:

Sonic Jam (Much better than Mega Collection)
Sonic Gems Collection
Zelda Collector's Edition
Metal Slug Anthology

As digital content rises and classics being sold individually we'll probably see even less compilations being released. :(

Some of my favorites are
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for PS3/360
Midway's Arcade Hits Vol. 1 for PS2/Xbox
Capcom Classics Collection for PS2/Xbox
Super Mario All-Stars (if it counts...)
Namco Museum Vol. 4 (Assault!!!)
Namco Museum Vol. 5 (Metro-Cross and Pac-Mania!!)
Namco Museum 25th Anniversary (Every other Namco game under the sun, including Galaga 88 and Rolling Thunder!!)
Mega Man Anniversary Collection for PS2
Taito Legends 1 and 2 for PS2 (both awesome in their own ways.)
Raiden Project for PS1 (only home port of Raiden II that I'm aware of. Still looks and plays amazingly today)
Mickey and Donald for Japanese Saturn (Contains Castle of Illusion and Quackshot, and can be played in S-video!)

I only own three game compilations:

Sonic Mega Collection

Sonic Gems Collection

Phantasy Star Collection

I'd say my favorite of the three is Sonic Mega Collection because it has the most nostalgia for me.

Phantasy Star Collection for GBA (sucks that PS1 crashes though)

And all the time at that.

Taito Legends 1 and 2(the first one is my favorite,)
Capcom Classics Collection 1 and 2
Mega Man Anniversary Collection
Mega Man X Collection
Konami GB Collection 1 and 3(or 1 and 4 for PAL regions.) I don't own these but I will eventually. Only because they have both CV Adventure and Belmont's Revenge in color. But Contra is also a good game on the first one.
Metal Slug Collection
Sega Genesis Collection
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection
Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls
Castlevania Double Pack HoD and AoS

Midway Arcade Treasures 2 - GCN (Total Carnage, MK2, MK3, Xybots, Rampage World Tour, APB, and Hard Drivin')
Sonic Mega Collection Plus - Xbox (Also obvious.)
The Legend of Zelda: Collectors' Edition (Obvious x3)
Namco Museum Vol. 1 and Vol. 3 (Most of the great Namco games)
Namco Museum - Xbox (Almost everything great about Namco.)
Arcade's Greatest Hits - PSX (Yet another collection with all the games being excellent.)
Atari Anthology series - PC (Excellent Atari compilation.)
Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - Xbox (Fun to play when you don't feel like running the games in HBC.)

At a friend's house, I'd played a game called Return to Zork. For those not familiar with it, it was sort of a Myst-like first person graphical adventure game. It was my only exposure to the series up until that point.

I liked it, so I asked for it for my 11th birthday, and got it. However, to my surprise it came bundled with another box, called The Zork Anthology. It contained the first five original Zork games and, as a bonus, included another game called Planetfall.

"How cool", I thought. "Six more games that were like Return to Zork!"

My first clue that this wasn't the case came when I opened the box -- Return to Zork came on something like five or six 3.5" floppy disks, yet the whole anthology as well as the bonus game were contained on just one. Regardless, I installed them all and fired up the first Zork.

"Wait a minute... this is just text!"

At first I felt like someone had pulled a fast one on me. Then, I started to play. And play. And play. Over the next few weeks I went through the various games, becoming lost in their text-driven worlds. In the years following that, I would often revisit them. Within that span of time, I think I only played Return to Zork once, maybe twice. By then there seemed to be no comparison.

EDIT: I found a picture of the original box. You'd think the numerous mentions of "Text Adventure" would have tipped me off, but I had no idea what a text adventure was at that point.

Pac-Man 2: The New Adventures. SNES version includes Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man (I've heard the Genesis one replaces Ms. Pac Man with Pac-Man Jr.)
Probably because at that time, only the NES and Genesis versions of Tengen's Ms. Pac-Man had been released.

Tron 2.0

I own plenty of compilations, here's what I like most:

Taito Memories Joukan
Taito Memories Gekkan
Taito Memories II Joukan
Taito Memories II Gekkan
Taito Legends
Taito Legends 2 (yes these last 2 share all but a couple games from Memories, though Memories has far more than both Legends combined)
Sonic Mega Collection Plus
Capcom Classics Collection
Capcom Classics Collection 2
Capcom Generation 2 PSX/Sat: the Makaimura series only, no visual filters that exists on the Capcom Classics Collections either
Gradius III/IV
Gradius Deluxe Pack
Salamander Deluxe Pack
Parodius Deluxe Pack
Metal Slug Anthology
Samurai Shodown Anthology

No that's not all the compilations I own, but these are the most played.

The two Capcom Classics releases for PS2/Xbox are my favorite with the PSP versions not far behind. The Midway Arcade Classics series is pretty good too. Last gen was a retro-compilation goldmine.

Berserker, are you aware that later there was a Zork Legacy Collection that included all of those, plus Return to Zork and Zork Nemesis?

My only problem with it is that some printings (such as the one I have) accidentally leave off Beyond Zork. But oh well, I was able to rectify that.

Phantasy Star Collection for GBA (sucks that PS1 crashes though)

It's weird. I've played this cart on both the Game Boy Player and the Nintendo DS, and I've never encountered the crashing problem in PS1. Maybe I just haven't played it long enough to see it happen.

It's random, and usually occurs when you try to save the game.

Sega Ages Series (PS2)

Definitely with you here. I've only played Monster World, but Sega really focused on accuracy and comprehensiveness way more than any other compilation I've played.

Sonic Jam (Much better than Mega Collection)

I actually disliked how Sonic Jam altered the sound effects, at least in S3K. It really threw me when trying to play it. I appreciated all of the neat bonus features though.

I'm gonna say I prefer Mega Collection + Gems for including the Game Gear games. Yes, I like them.

No, I wasn't aware of that! I also have yet to play Zork Nemesis.

The other thing I remember was that it came with this great book that was sort of an illustrated compendium of the world of Zork. Do you know if this compilation included that as well?

EDIT: I think it may have actually been a compilation of the various "feelies" that came with a few of the Zork games. I definitely remember seeing these (http://infocom.elsewhere.org/gallery/beyond/beyond.html) pages, which apparently were made for Beyond Zork. I also remember seeing these (http://infocom.elsewhere.org/gallery/zork0/zork0.html) portraits, which were for Zork Zero. None of the earlier scans seem familiar though.

Mine came with something called the "Encyclopedia Frobozzica" as well as documentation, manuals, and even maps for the text adventures. May have been something else too.

Course, I got a used copy.

SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1

In that order. All allowed me to add several desired but not-yet-owned games to my collection at one time!

Triple Trouble is well worth a play!

I'm hoping the inevitable Sonic Anniversary Collection includes ALL Sonic games, including GG and MS versions, up to Sonic Adventure. Which would be around 20 - 30 games or so.

Having the GBA games thrown in as well would be nice.

Being a huge Capcom fan, games that immediately came to mind were

Street Fighter Alpha Collection
Mega Man Anniversary Collection
Mega Man X Collection

I miss those old Mega Man games.
