i'm going to be hitting the road tomorrow heading to california, i'm in oregon now. my entire collection is packed into boxes and is coming with me. is there any chance that these carts could melt or anything like that? i'm very worried about something like this happening. has anyone had their carts in a very hot car for a long period of time (a day or 2)?

thanks. :)

I would figure something out to prevent that, California's heat and humidity and your carts insides won't mix

California is not that humid. Hopfully the places you stay on the way down will have parking garages. You are going to be driving during the day and not parking right? If you don't die of heat I doubt your carts will.

not going to be staying anywhere on the way, its approx. a 14 hour drive so i can do it in 1 shot. i've driven there before though and remember it getting really really hot in the car. i've brought games before and they were ok, but this time its my entire collection so i'm being very cautious. after CA i'm going to arizona too, is it much hotter there?

Much hotter in AZ. I say just keep them away from direct light and they will be okay. I have bought so many carts from the swap that where sitting in the sun for many weekends and they are fine. How many carts have you bought and how many have been jacked. I think there would have been way more if they were realy sensitive to heat.

I've kept a few carts & DVD's in my truck for hours while I'm at work and don't want the hassle of taking them in. In Michigan's 80 weather for 5-8 hours they've been ok so far.

lock someone in the trunk and have them blow on the games every 10 seconds or so ;)

How did this trip go? Did the carts survive?

Not to hijack this or anything, but I'm kind of curious about something..
I'm going to be bringing about 150 carts along as luggage when I leave for Las Vegas on Friday, and I plan on checking it (definitely don't need it as carry--on). Has anyone brought a large number with them on a flight before? I'm wondering if I'm going to have any problems with security.

I'd be a LOT more worried about someone breaking into my car and stealing the stuff than I was about some heat problems... people will break into your car and steal ANYTHING. Ask my wife. Someone took a knife to the convertible roof of my car and stole her dirty laundry.

I transported around 50 carts from Japan to the U.S. two months after 9/11 without any problems. However, 150 MDs in another bag drew more attention than a bong would have. For some reason no one there had ever seen 'em and they inspected the lot.

MDs = what? Mega Drives? Medical Doctors? In a really big bag?

Thanks, that makes me feel a bit more secure about it. I know last year there was a cart assembly line going on in someone's hotel room, and I'm assuming they brought their carts with them, and if they made it without any problems, I shouldn't have any.

I'm gonna PM Nesman85 if he doesn't answer HOW IT WENT! I am dying to know that he made his trip successfully.

I live in AZ, in the valley of the sunstroke, and have never had a cart spoil on me while in my car. Hell, I've left 2600 carts in there for weeks on end, during the summer (forgot them, not intentional) and they played fine when I played them later.
Hey Nesman, are you coming thru the Phoenix area? If so, drop me a PM..

hi, i didn't see that this thread had anymore replies until punkoffgirl pm'd me.
the carts suffered no damage at all on the trip to california. i'm leaving for arizona tomorrow night. @jagdiesel, yeah, i'm going to be moving to phoenix permanently (well, for a year or 2 anyway).
sothy, you suck. can't even eliminate a little video game geek. :P
