We're also looking for any library submissions, whether it's scanned material or offers to loan us material for scanning (ex. if you see any missing magazine or newsletter issues, it's most likely because we don't have them). PM me if you can help out.

Awesome, thanks!

Bwahahaha, from the Vidiot Sep/Oct 82 issue, p 41:

How many of the ALL-TIME GREATS have you played?
1) Pac-Man
2) Space Invaders
3) Asteroids
4) Defender
5) Frogger
6) Centipede
7) Galaxians (sic)
8) Pong
9) Breakout
10) Berserk (sic)
11) Donkey Kong
12) Rip-Cord (sic)
RIP CORD? How drunk were these guys to not be able to come up with one more game that would better fit the "all time greats" description? :)

These kinds of updates are appreciated, but what I'd really like to see is the new edition of the Classic Guide finally go up for sale! And perhaps a new edition of the Advance Guide, if it's necessary.

It's coming this year, Rev (and everyone else). For now, more magazines will be going up, as that will hopefully help all the Guide editors with adding more info to their respective sections. Hang tight - lotsa stuff in the pipeline this year :)

Also have 1 of 2 issues of Creative Computing Video & Arcade Games magazine online now.

Oh my god, I loved that Kubey book as a kid. I used to check it out all the time from the library, and I was the only person who had in probably 12 years at the time. That is probably the coolest thing for me to see on here. Edit: though the link is actually messed up on that, FYI.

I'm certainly on board to update that VIS section any time the guide is back up :P

Great news! I've been wanting to pick up a Classic Guide for about three years now.

So are you missing any issues that the rest of us should be looking out for? If I happen to have any I will ship them right to you.

EDIT: Most of the missing Videogaming issues are for sale super cheap at Mile High Comics, if you don't already have them:

Does that mean every issue of Electronic Games? I'm going to sort my mags in 2-3 weeks, I want to put together a care package to send you. So far that's a couple issues of Videogaming and any EGs that I have and you're missing. Those last two Blips are kind of a bitch to find!

I could lend you guys some old game books and mags if you'd like. I'd be able to get the list later tonight. You'd have to pay for the shipping both ways though because I'm pretty broke right now and can't afford it. Send me a PM and I can help you out.

I'm still not quite sure how DP works, but there is something I've always wondered-why don't you guys post any new reviews of older games? Is that just going to happen again or am I not seeing the newer ones?

vintagegamecrazy
04-22-2011, 10:47 PM
That's probably mostly my fault that there's no new reviews. I was going to try to be the editor but I ended up buying a house a year and a half ago and it has lots of problems we'll say, needless to say being the review editor got sidelined for me and I never got it going. I still want to do it but need to contact Joe in order to get it set up.

I've recently posted a couple that I did years ago:

http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/dukes_of_hazzard_2600.htm
http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/thayersquest_dvd.htm

Any reviews denoted by an asterisk were the most recent ones added (to that section). Anyone is free to submit reviews - there's a FAQ on the main page in the review section: http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/index.htm Personally, I'd be more interested in seeing reviews of games that we don't have online yet (either new or ones from past DP newsletters), as I don't see the point in re-reviewing games. What can you say about a game like VCS Pac-Man that hasn't already been said by now? :)

vintagegamecrazy
04-23-2011, 05:25 PM
Stonic are you going to be the review editor now? It'd be really nifty if you start doing it as I could send you plenty of reviews.

As for how reviews are accepted. Since DP doesn't have a user based rating system like Sega-16 does it'd be nice to only accept two reviews for any one game, maybe one full review and then possibly a shorter one for a second opinion. That way we would have a main review and then a second opinion and then more games would be covered quicker.

PM me if you still want me to dig through my books and mags. I'd have to dig them out of the garage though but i'd be happy to do it.

No, I'm not the review editor, and never was. As for loaning magazines, PM me a list of what you have, but see my reply to RedEye on what's currently needed.
