So i have been collecting carts for a few years now, and after some reading on this forum i see that different games have different variants, but to what would you call a variant? If the cart was assembled in a different country then others is it a variant? If it is labeled not for resale is it a variant? Many thanks ^_^

I don't think a different region counts as a variant as it's usually a different program entirely. If not though, then yes I'd call it a variant.
Really anything intentionally cosmetically different about the cart makes it a variant. For example I have two different copies of SMB/DH/WCTM because on one Mario's overalls are red and in the other they are white.
Another common NES one is the Legend of Zelda gold carts. I have one with a circular Nintendo seal of approval and one with the now-standard oval seal.
things like this are variants though keep in mind that just because it's a variant doesn't mean it's necessarily worth more or less. The two examples I gave are both interchangeably common.

A variant is whatever you want it to be (read: how obsessive you want to be). There are no concrete rules about this stuff. If you want to go down to the minute detail, then more power to you. If you're only doing it because you've read about others doing it and you feel "obligated" to as a collector, though, I think you'd be better off buying games that are new to you than multiple copies of the same game, but that's just my opinion.

oh ok this makes sense now :D
You see i was wondering because for the sega genesis i have two copies of sonic the hedge hog
sonic the hedge hog 2
sonic spinball
and they all ,coincidentally, are cosmetically different :D
