Hey folks I need your help!! I just got a CDI 220 via Ebay..The seller stated that all games work and play great. My problem is...how do you get the games to play. On hooking up my CDI and powering it on..I was presented with a screen that had the Phillips CD Interactive Logo with four options.........DIM, Settings, Memory, Open.........So I put in a Disc and hit play nothing happens...??? The screen on the CDI itself just had lines on it with no message indicating the disc was playing. So then I powered off then on again...this time the screen on the hardware had the play symbol with CDI displayed on it..My TV screen then automatically went to a screen that says Memory..with a message displaying Memory Full, please delete some items. there was one item listed so I selected and deleted the item then hit OK...the screen just kept going back to the MEMORY screen.. Then sometimes if I powered it on and off it would go the first screen mentioned. Listen I know the CDI is a piece of shit...but I just got it to get it...Anybody have a clues on how I can get this junk working???? Thank You in advance!!!

The CD-i 220 is actually a very durable piece of hardware. Having said that, you likely have a defective unit. Upon turning it on and inserting a disc, it should start booting automatically. It's possible you have a defective drive or maybe just a defective game disc. It could also be a BIOS problem or some other hardware issue. Unfortunately, I don't know if it's really time or cost effective to try and fix it. You could try a CD-Rom lens cleaner and trying a different disc, but failing this, you will likely need replacement parts which are probably more expensive than just getting another player.

It could have been damaged by jostling in transit. If he is open to it and you have the confidence, you could crack it open and see if anything became loose or unseated during transit.
