Greetings!

I'm breaking a long-held policy of not shipping overseas. What is the best/most secure way to ship so that a buyer cannot get a chargeback from PayPal? Anyone? I checked the USPS webiste but there are so many options that I don't know where to begin.

I basically use International Priority Mail or First Class w/Registered Mail.

At least the later has a tracking number. I don't remember the first since it's been quite a long time since I've shipped Priority International.

First Class: No tracking, good speed, can ship small to medium packages or letters up to 4lbs.
Priority Mail International: No tracking, speed is the same as First Class, can ship up to 20 lbs I think, but way overpriced.
Express Mail: Very expensive, very fast shipping, tracking number works up until it is delivered.

(I've never used Registered Mail on international parcels.)

How do you guarantee to PayPal that the game arrived? Anyone experienced any problems?

You can mix First Class with Registered Mail for tracking. Works great.

If it says it was delivered, you are in "the clear". But it MUST say delivered, else Paypal will side with the buyer.

hey David. You are wrong. :)
Priority is trackable locally and worldwide. Well, maybe just in Russia, but that's it.

So based on my huge experience best way to ship 80% of all shit is Priority. It's pretty fast, secure and is trackable.
However for small and cheap items i usually select First Class.

First Class is NOT trackable no matter what kind of options you add! Don't be fooled.
In UK though they have "airmail signed for" and it IS trackable.

Not quite.

Adding "Registered Mail" to "First Class Mail" nets you a tracking code (starting with RR and ending with US, CN, or whatever place it comes from) that acts as a Delivery Confirmation of sorts. Not tracking per se, sans a few updates, but it's still something.

I've done in a few times in the past and it works.

Priority's crappy "tracking" isn't enough for PayPal.

That's what I'm concerned about. Not actual delivery. The item may be delivered but if the buyer says "Oh noes I never got it" and files a chargeback then I'm screwed.

It is enough. Cause it shows "delivered blahblah".
Just some weeks ago i had a loong claim pending. For over 2 months and it ended like this:

In response to your claim, the seller has provided proof of shipment
indicating that the item was shipped to you. Because the seller was able to
provide proof of shipment, we cannot reverse this transaction or issue a
refund. We encourage you to continue to work directly with the seller to
amicably resolve this matter.

Mexico is one the countries that has too many problems with regular mail, i have lost too many packages and I have learned from this, but usually Americans sent packages for regular airmail to "save me a few dollars" ....

FIRST CLASS W/REGISTERED MAIL is safer than priority mail .... i think that Registering service is 7.50 usd alone .. but is the best protection; use this and you won't have any problem.

Just want to chime in here to say that International Priority Small Flat Rate Box and Flat Rate Envelope definitely do NOT have delivery confirmation.

It is good to read Dark_Sol's account of winning a claim with Priority DC. I think that technically he should not have, though. Paypal's requirement says something about showing "delivered to <specific destination>" on the online tracking page, where <specific destination> is zip code or town or something along those lines. I've forgotten what exactly. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Priority Int'l DC doesn't say that on the online tracking page. It has been quite some time since I was looking into all this, so things might have changed on either or both sides of this.

I guess you misunderstood me. I lost that claim. It took over 2 months to show up and they were delaying the resolution for that i guess. In the end after over 3 months when i actually got the game i didn't close the claim but wanted to wait and check specifically if these paypal bastards work at all. And the resolution is above. So they indeed check delivery status if it shows up on the other side.

Everything starting from CP is trackable here. CJ as well.

Are you the guy that made a thread about a Display Copy of Lunar for Sega CD that claimed the money and after getting it, you tried to sell it for quad the original price ?

That's because they use the 1st class customs form which is worthless. The normal Priority stuff uses the regular customs form which has a number that can be used for tracking and/or delivery confirmation. The CP # basically, the other form I think has the number starts with LC.

Been shipping overseas for many years. My vast experience in doing so has resulted in me being a bit more selective now:

Recently shipped to Bolivia and Mozambique. First and last time. Shipping to Bolivia was express and is MIA still (shipped in December). Buyer filed a claim and won. Now I am filing claim with USPS. Shipment to Mozambique was priority and also is MIA after leaving US couple months ago. Buyer just negged me.

I no longer ship to select countries as a result. I have never had any issues shipping to Mexico or Puerto Rico. Russia, Italy and Brazil on the otherhand....

I'm pretty adventurous generally though...now about to ship unused DLC voucher to a zero feedback bidder...

:)

Best thing is that when you ship to PR, you are shipping via Domestic Mail since it's not International. So it's basically like shipping CONUS, with no change in price or anything. :)
