Title says it, I got NES with some controllers everything works except the one controller. Tried multiple games and nothing, tried another controller and worked fine.

Is there any common problems with easy fixes, or is it just dead and gone.

Open it up and look at it. Edit:I believe it's just a phillips head. Tell us if you found anything broken, ripped, burnt out. Look at the solder, is it cracked or discolored anywhere? Does the cord have any rips/tears? It could literally be ANYTHING. Take some pics of the inside if you can. We'll try to help :)

I had one fail on me because it had somehow twisted too much and several of the wires ripped out of the board. Easily soldered but still. Man.. that controller was a piece. Rusty screws, exposed wires in the cord where something had chewed through.. what appeared to be chocolate melted and dried into the nooks and crannies. Hope it was chocolate :(

Take solace in the fact that if it's just plain ruined, they are easy as pie to find. Cheap too.

Could be a loose/bad connection, or the 4021 died. The 4021 can be replaced, but if you don't want to bother, you can desolder the 4021 and then solder wires directly to the inputs and then onto another controller, creating a zombie NES controller for use on another system.

I had a dead 4021 and re-purposed the NES controller to work on the original Xbox.

Slightly bad audio. sorry.

That's a really sweet idea! I've often toyed with the thought of making a USB pad out of one of my defunct NES controllers.

Sweet video very cool, my remote doesn't have any exposed wires or anything, so I think I just call it a day on it and get another.
