Sonicesque Vol. II is the second original album of Sonic music in the Genesis style, composed by Karl Brueggemann. With this second volume, I really took things to the next level. I received some great feedback from Vol. I, which motivated me to go above and beyond what was originally just an experiment with a new plug-in. My goal for Vol. II was to try and emulate that classic Genesis style, while also making sure my own compositional voice was heard. Sonic 3 is the main influence here, but also Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic 2. Fans of those games will notice some songs inspired by specific levels, such as Hydrocity, Angel Island, Ice Cap and Lava Reef, among others. I’ve put a lot of love into this album, and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do. If so, please spread the word! Below is the Youtube link, as well as the download link.

Thanks for listening! Let me know what you think!

Good stuff. I liked Hydropolis Act 2 and Diamond Dash. Will listen more.

Right on man! You did an excellent job, how did you make those?

I used a VST plugin called VOPM, which emulates the Genesis sound chip. It's pretty sweet. For the drums, I ripped the samples from the VGM files of Sonic 2 and 3.

Is it possible to use the music you made from the plugin, and put them onto a genesis rom chip and run on real hardware?

OK, this is a real anomaly, but my fav Sonic music of all freaking time is the character select screen from Sonic 3.

Hmm. I don't know. It could be possible, but I have no idea how to do anything like that. Also, the drums are samples, and some of the instruments were recorded directly from my keyboard.

Haha, I know, it's so catchy! I used to sit and listen to the whole thing before I selected a character.

I listened to both volumes today, loved em! Some tracks made me extremely nostalgic. I really sensed that classic Genesis sound coming through, as well as Sonic style. Make more.

SpaceHarrier,
Thanks! That's good to hear. I will definitely be making more Sonic songs here and there. Mainly just cause I love to make them!

Kitsune Sniper,
Yes I do. It needs a lot of work, but in the future should be a good place to showcase my music. http://karlbrueggemann.com

I was mostly asking about a website so I could download your album (and the first one) and stuff. :p

I'll download them later.
