Hey all,

A few years ago I bought Star Fox Super Weekend Competition from Ebay for $300, as it's somewhat rare. Shortly after that, I started seeing it all over Ebay for generally $175-$250, making it rather easy to get.

Suddenly, it seems it and Donkey Kong Country Competition Edition have swapped, as I see IT all over the place, and almost never see Star Fox. Last time I did, it went for about $350, too.

Anyone know why the sudden change in value and scarcity? Is that just the nature of rare games, they ebb and flow in value?

Blockbuster locations closing have unearthed lots of new copies from storage rooms.

Keep in mind also that the Starfox Super Weekend and Donkey Kong Country Competition Carts don't really have a big market as they aren't unique games, simply rare tournament versions of games that can be found for very cheaply. So the price is really dictated by who's buying at that specific time, who's selling, and what position the moon is in that month. Same goes for games like Daytona USA: CCE Netlink Edition

The games don't have a stable market, and in this economy I wouldn't be surprised if the price tends to jump around for no reason.

From what I've seen, The DKC is rarer, and more pricey. As with anything, you may see are rush of something , then not see it again for 6 months. I've seen 3 Dynastic Hero's for Turbo grafx in the same week before, and then not seen another for 6 months.

The price on the starfx and DKC are pretty stable.

Less than $200 for a starfox comp is pretty cheap. Average is usually $225-$275 depending on condition and if it has the card. every once in a while you get the oddball $175, or $350, but they aren't the norm.

A copy with card just sold for $405 which is the highest I've seen.

The DKC is about double the $500-600, and with the case can reach $900+.

The ones on ebay are set prices, and aren't necessarily new copies. Every single 1 of them are list $100 or more over the current actually selling prices.

I actually know the guy that bought the $405 one. He's going for a full SNES set, and he was pretty determined to get it in that auction.

Guys, it is "Super Starfox Weekend", not "Starfox Super Weekend".

I think $300 is definitely on the upper end of the price scale for the game, I've seen it sell anywhere between $175 and $250. I bought mine at the lower end of that scale, though that was a few years ago.

DKC at $500? I paid the same for it as I did with SSW ($250), so I got a "bargain"?

There was some Japanese Gameboy game called Chalvo 55 (or something) being sold for 500 dollars on ebay by some French seller, but then I found it under another transliteration by a Japanese seller for 10 dollars. I contacted the Japanese seller about it and he called the other auction a swindle.

Really? Looks like I better start checking!
(If the Blockbusters are closing around here, that is.)
