I got to meet "the Queen" this weekend, as well as a few other forum people that I've met before and various others who aren't cool enough to be allowed here. Best of all, I took COLOR pictures!

Have a look-see.

By the way, KRIS ROCKS.

Kris, don't you look just cute and adorable as can be?!?!? :D Sounds like it was a lot of fun, so I am very jealous!! Cool stuff!

No Joe, YOU rock. :)

Btw, what ever happened with the Doritos challenge? Did anybody eat any or what?

My personal highlights...

1) The complete amazement of the east-coasters over the fact that Chicagoians cut their pizza into squares.
2) Becoming the world recorder holder for a game I don't think I'm allowed to mention. ;)
3) Playing Sean's Vectrex Minicade...I swear, if I lived in his house I'd never leave.
4) Getting the boxed Godfather Trilogy DVD set from Adam and a whole bunch of other stuff too. :)
5) Finally meeting Joe, John, Russ, Sean, and all the rest.
6) Had a nice chat with Mark De Smet, the programmer of the Vectrex game VeCaves. :)

All in all, I had a great time, and I can't wait for next year. :)

If this gathering was so secret, how come I was there! :D

Coolest thing about this years gathering was that I got to talk more with Joe (who wasn't there last year). Fun guy, along with all the other (Russ, Sean, John, etc).

Favorite part of the show: Talking with a group of guys about the old classic gaming magazines (which someone brough some copies of). Guess I'll be collecting them too now ... (That's what the bottem left photo is - I'm the dude w/the SpiderMan shirt [who was watching Joe in the back of the garage taking the photo and thinking what weird caption he's going to put on the website with the photo]).

Worst part: Those horrible roasted peas. It's amazing what people will eat! Yuck :P

This someone's idea of a real exciting time - hanging out in an empty yard and bending over in the garage? What is that thing in picture #6 behind the table that looks like a rotting caribou?

What's so odd about that? I always bring a rotting caribou around whenever I have a get-together for my friends.

Maybe that's why my friends never actually get around to showing up. Hmmm. Oh well, so much for the Western Arkansas Classic. :P

Gee, I thought you counted down first then right, making me the rabid caribou, until you mentioned "table". I don't know what you're referring to though, unless of course you mean Sean.

By the way, if you don't understand why chatting with people with the same hobby is "fun" then why are you on this board?

And I suppose one might mention the previously undiscovered prototype that was there, complete with box.

Caféman's top 10 thoughts upon seeing these pictures:

10. Royal cats don't like beer.
9. Ahh, good ole MGD in the afternoon.
8. Slapdash's member pic is about 5 years old.
7. Agh! See that pink kid's playhouse?!! I hate those! Ever try putting those together by yourself?! Horror!
6. These pics remind me of Shenmue for some reason. Maybe its the bricks.
5. There's no room for cars in my garage either.
4. Chicago has a table & chair shortage.
3. Nobody is playing KOffi: Yellow Kopter!
2. Nobody is playing anything!
1. Who are all these people?!

All in good fun, folks. Hope you had fun there.

Only about four actually, but I'm curious as to why you knew that. If you're judging by my weight, I assure you, most to all of it was present in my member pic, just not pictured.

3. Nobody is playing KOffi: Yellow Kopter!

As I understand it, you're not done with it yet. Or perhaps my inclusion on the preorder list wasn't as solid as I thought?

2. Nobody is playing anything!

Ugh... There's a pic of me from last year's SeanFest, just as fat, playing a 3D Vectrex game with goggles homebrewed from a CD player and safety goggles. A clever idea, but not very flattering.

There was some game playing going on though -- the Mini-Cade, some 2600 prototypes, and VecCaves & Spike's Spree at least got a workout.

[/quote]

Come on, at least the one pic with the most people is identified, and most of the people there not in that pic are identified separately in other places. Well, except for the mystery ass.

Oh, or did you mean that less in "who are they?" and more "good lord, where do you dig these people up?". I have no good answer to that one...

Slapdash, in your member pic, you have a substantially more youthful, '20-ish' appearance, than what I see in the current pics. Look in the mirror, then look at your member pic. Remember when you were young? :P

(Btw, the grays are coming in my head -- thirties! bah!)

Most of my comments were just light silly stuff, similar to most Dave-influenced Top Tens. But I don't think I know over half the folks at the event, thus "who are these people".

It still looks like something out of Shenmue to me. That pic will SK sitting there at a table, with the bricks behind him -- I could just see pressing the "A" button and having him tell me where to find Chinese people.

EDIT -- you are right btw, I'm not done with Koffi yet. But I'm close.

Actually, my fault -- I didn't try clicking them to see the full-size images; my pic is horror enough in miniature. I see what you mean, though part of it may be just that I was clean-shaven for the member pic, but had 30 hours of growth in the fest pic.

No, the memory is first to go...

That just makes us look distinguished, right?

Yeah. Sorry if I sounded like I was answering too seriously. Goodness knows I've been a participant in the creation of Top Ten lists myself...

Or haggle for an Afterburner cart to play in your Mark III back at your flat...

Yay! Sorry I didn't have time to make a badger for the Koffi Kreature Kontest the way I wanted to... Put me on the list if I'm not there already!

Okay, I was also at the Chi-Classic and was much berated by the senior event staff... not because I had little to trade, but because I'd never been on this board before! I am avoiding Joe's thinly veiled threats by becoming a member.

My life begins today.

Sadly I was too late to be part of the gaming paprazzi, so my mug will remain a mystery to all but those who were there... as it should be. I have already explained to several of my friends the machinations of Ted's Mealtime Gauntlet. Too bad it never happened. I think that we need to form a committe in order to manage all of the proposed rules so we can ultimately move this from an exhibition sport to a true Olympic event.

Joe, I hope that you and Mrs. Joe are enjoying the Laser Discs. I am really enjoying the DP guide, and the other stuff that you were kind enough to trade to me. This was my first trade ever, and the experience has been deeply satislying... in a non-erotic sense of course.

Sadly, I think that you'll be seeing more of me around the forums. :D Thanks for inviting me to join, everybody! Sean is a great host, and it's nice making connections again with some foolks from last year. Great party!

Welcome to the forums, Bohus!

We watched one of the laserdiscs yesterday and enjoyed it muchly. In fact, it wasn't even the same "set" of episodes from the US release we own on VHS, which is a real plus!

OK so now that you made it here, if you have a moment, please introduce yourself to us at this link:

Enjoy your stay!

I always have a great time at Sean's get-togethers, meet people who are even more nuts about games than I am, and always come home with some great finds.

I'm currently hooked (no pun intended) on "Pick Up" a 2600 CGE 2002 game I bought on Saturday...good gameplay and a hilarious "scoring" screen. And I just shelved my new copy of Cheetahmen II (no Joe, I didn't take it out of the shrinkwrap).

Sean's backyard is like going to Mecca, but the only time you have to get down on your knees is to go through everyone's trade boxes. And don't badmouth John's peas...how can you not like a "Happy Present from the Earth"!

I wish I could have been there this year (I was at the previous two), but I woke up feeling like I had been hit by a train that morning. I was sick in bed the whole day with a low grade fever (maybe I had West Nile Virus)? What timing eh? Well It's not like you get asked when you want to be sick...

I'll be at the next one though.
