I have no clue where scooter has been for the last month and a half, so I am going to continue the tradition in his absence.

I remember discovering this game in a bowling alley across the street from where I used to work in 1988. Being a Yankee fan since 1976, I of course took the Yankees to start. Plenty of offense, but the secret to this game is learning how to pitch, even more than knowing how to hit. If you don't and you don't get at least two or three runs in the first inning, your game is going to be very short.

Each one of these teams have Hall of Fame lineups, and will put the hurting on you with the quickness if you don't know the secret of pitching. The secret is this: Aim for the corners. Start from the right side of mound (left side if you're pitching a left-handed pitcher) and as soon as the ball leaves his hand, move the stick to the right (or left) and try to either nip the outside corner or go a little further outside and make the batter swing at it. If you do it right, you can retire the side on nine pitches. This is the way to do it, because once you get into the meat of the batting orders on these teams, they're fairly intimidating.

Hitting is a little tougher, and sometimes you feel like you hit the ball flush and you end up popping it up.. I think that goes along with the actual batting averages, the pitch and the location of the ball when you hit it. It takes practice, but in time you can win the game (have at least a one run lead after nine innings of play, or score ten runs more than your opponent does, but if the game scores one more run than you, the game is ovah!) fairly quickly.

My favorite team without question is the Atlanta Braves. Phil Niekro is an excellent pitcher, and this lineup can hit. The Yankees have more power sure, but Atlanta's pitching is better.

I have strategies galore for this game, if you want to know more, just ask.
