I wager it's a simple issue in that the battery can no longer hold a charge. I had my SP2 (AGS-101) charging (orange light) overnight and was still going when I awoke today and went to the red light quite soon after testing.

My question is concerning 3rd party batteries which are about 4 times cheaper than official battery from Nintendo - are these reliable and are there particular models, mAh ratings to look for? I don't have much issue with spending the $15+ on an official 600mAh battery but if a 3rd party 700-850mAh battery is good enough for $4 I'll go that route. Any information is helpful.

You need a new battery.

The only problems I have had with 3rd party (made in China) batteries are:

First, the mAh is for the most part exaggerated so if there is a 850mAh (IDK haven’t looked) it would probably give you just as much play time as the 600mAh official battery and a 600mAh 3rd party will give you less play time.

Second, 3rd party batteries don’t last as long as the official ones (the lifespan of the battery) but it’s not that big of a problem when you can get 3 or 4 3rd party batteries for less than the official one.

I say go with one 3rd party to test if it is the battery and to see if you will like a 3rd party battery. Like I said the biggest problem is that you might get 4 hours of play out of the 3rd party where you would get 6 hours out of the official.

This is very helpful information, I'll keep it in mind when pursuing a new battery, thanks a lot.

I do love me some DX but man the shipping time. Is it just me or has it gotten worse? I remember it taking on average about 2 maybe 3 weeks for me to get something now it seems to take at least a month or more.

Thanks for this as well, although they can be had for about the same on ebay, around $4.

DX does seem to take longer now. Last time I ordered from them it came in like a month and a half.
