Does anyone know if anyone makes an adapter that will let you use Ps1 or Ps2 controllers on the PS3? It sure would be nice to be able to use them on some of the older titles downloaded from the Playstation Store. Thanks.

Yeah, I bought one on Amazon a few years ago for $10-$15. I forget the exact type, but it's pretty sturdy and "lag free." I couldn't detect any lag, at least.

Don't happen to remember the brand do you? And did it let you use an digital joystick with the PS3 for those ps1 games? Thanks.

I used a converted Saturn pad w/the guts of a PS2 controller to play PS2 and PS3 games. I'm not sure about Playstation titles, but imagine it works.

There are a lot of them out there, they all work generally the same.

I'd personally recommend looking for one that has a "Playstation Button" on it so that you can re-assign the controller as needed or adjust other options that are only available via the Playstation menu.

Pelican made one that was intended to adapt PS2 guitar controllers, but works fine for regular controllers as well.

best option is to get one of those adapters that also has a memory card input for ps1 and ps2 cards, that way you have it all in one :)

yea bought one a few weeks back off amazon for like 5 dollars, works really well but i think firmware update 3.50 and above knocked out compatiblity with certain 3rd party ps2 controllers so basically i wasted my money :(

yea it still works with my original dualshock 2, but i had bought the adapter to use with my fanatec speedster 3rd party controller which is ideal for racing games, i had hoped to play gran turismo 5, but alas, i jumped on that train way too late :(

What I really hope it does, is let me use my playstation digital joystick to play the ps1 games that don't support analog. Anyone know a place you can just go buy one from a store without having to mailorder one? Thanks.

You can just buy a PS3 compatible USB joystick. On the low end they run around $20-$30 and they typically have the PS button that will allow you to access the option to set PS1 games to digital controls. (And which will save you the need to buy a USB PS1/PS2 adapter)

I have a few of these and they work fine on PS1 games http://www.buy.com/prod/ps3-ps2-usb-pc-mac-hyperkin-k-o-fighting-stick/q/sellerid/15748894/loc/108/212001850.html
