If it includes online multiplayer it'll be one less game that I'll have on my wish-list of modern sequels to console classics.
I only hope that this report is true and/or accurate.

Online multiplayer, sounds swwwwwwwwwwwwweeet!! It sounds like this might be a digital download title, oh well, better than nothing. I wonder if it will be 2d 2.5d or 3d.

Goto party game... Could always use more of them. :D
If this is a joke I'm going to need the pranksters email address and a thesaurus specific to vulgarities.

If it is, all of the major gaming news outlets have picked it up and we've all got egg on our collective faces.
Here's hoping it's real!

Seems to be true. It's not mentioned in the article you linked, but the developers, Miracle Kidz, also developed a version of Super Dodge Ball, titled Downtown Smash Dodgeball. It's on the Xbox Indie Games Marketplace under its Japanese title, but the game is in English. There's a demo available, though I've no idea how limited it is:
http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/%E3%83%80%E3%82%A6%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%82%A6%E3%8 3%B3%E6%BF%80%E5%87%B8%E3%83%89%E3%83%83%E3%82%B8% E3%83%9C%E3%83%BC%E3%83%AB/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d802585502c7
As the article says, Miracle Kidz is made up of ex-Technos members, so these are semi-official remakes/sequels. @_@ Since Downtown Smash was released as an indie game it's gone without much notice... I'm hoping RCR2 is published as a full XBLA/PSN title- achievements, leaderboards, online co-op, whatever will entice people to buy it.

The game in question is Shodai Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun (http://agtp.romhack.net/project.php?id=shodai), for whatever reason people started calling it RCR2, but it's more of a spiritual sequel than anything.

I refuse to get excited about this until it's confirmed to be 2D.

This sounds awesome. I have so many hours put into the first one, my brother and I would seriously play it all the time.
