I am not sure if anybody has asked this before or not. I was playing the Atari anniversary on Dreamcast. I was playing Crystal Castles and thought "boy, wouldn't this be so much more fun with a track ball?" I did some searches and came up empty. Is there a track ball for the Dreamcast? or any newer system such as PSX,PS2 or XBOX? or am I out of luck? Also, I picked up Crystal Catles today for the Atari 2600, does the Atari track ball work with this game? Thanks!

I do know there is a mouse for DC. If that works with Crystal Castle, it's not hard to convert the mouse to a trackball.

I don't know if you're still out there Felix, but Nyko made a trackball for PSX, and it works fine with PS2 as well. Both of the systems view the trackball as a mouse, so it should work with any mouse-compatible PSX/PS2 game. The trackball works pretty well in general, although due to the callibration you usually have to set the sensitivity way down in the game options. The trackball has four buttons, two on each side of the ball, but the two on the left give the same inputs as the two on the right, providing the equivalent of two-button mouse input, but usable by either righties or lefties.
It's great for using with the Atari Collections and Atari Anniversary discs! I picked up two of the Nyko trackballs about six months ago through ebay, paying IIRC $30 and $35 for them.
On a side note, if you're a Missile Command freak--er, afficianado--note that the PSX Atari Collection 1 disc lets you use the mouse / trackball in controller port 1 to direct the cursor in combination with a standard controller in port 2 to fire the missiles using three of the buttons, effectively recreating the arcade control scheme. Atari Anniversery for PSX, OTOH, limits you to using the two buttons on the mouse / trackball, forcing you to press both buttons simultaneously to fire from Delta base. Can you say "super-lame"?
