Now when i say classic i am gonna say N64/PS1/Saturn days and earlier

they were creative.. they were weird.. they were funny.. and they were awe inspiring.
Back in the golden years of video games in order to sell a game to you.. they made you want to buy it through visual advertisement you'd see on tv

I came across one yesterday that blew my mind. Because of how old it is and how graphically advanced it is considering its age

This is the "Atari What Will We Come Up With Next" commercial

where it shows a man sitting in a room catching inspiration from a fly whos flying around which spawns to "Yars Revenge!" and then various other games. The directive style seems like something Stanley Kubrick would come up with lol. Its pretty incredible

I remember that Genesis commercial. It's funny, 'cuz I also remember going to a thing back then called the Sega Play Tour. It was at my local mall, they had a bunch of Genesises (Genesii?) set up displaying various games, with Sonic as the marquee display. Next to the main Sonic set up, though, they had a SNES with Mario World, to show the differences I guess, just like that commercial.

The SNES had a line so long that I didn't even bother trying, even though I desperately wanted to play it. I played the Sonic demo over and over, there was pretty much no line for it. It totally backfired on Sega.

Thanks for this. I added links to Wikipedia's article, and updated it to say it worked with other systems (previously it had said only NES); also that Nintendo lost the lawsuit, as Wikipedia's entry on Camerica says they lost every one.

Some ballsy claims in these commercials.

That Freedom Stick claims you can get higher scores due to having no wires. I would think the small chance of wireless interference would actually cause lower scores.

The commercial for Sega Nights claims it is the first free flying in realtime 3D. Over a year before that, I was playing Descent on my PC. I was definitely free flying in realtime 3D. "But that was for the PC", you say. Well, a few months before Nights was released, a port of Descent was released for the PlayStation! Oops, Sega!

Haha, yeah :) It's amazing what they were able to do in 1982. It's sad that Atari dropped the ball after such a mind-blowing commercial.

It's so gross, my mother almost decided to not get the game that Christmas. I also just noticed that this video caught the tail end of a Burger King commercial before the gross starts. Kinda wonder if there was some ad executive out there going "oh, no, what the hell".
