looking for a complete list of ATARI games that were made for the NES?

I have Defender II, and Galaga: two of my favorites.
And I want to get Dig Dug reproduction from gamereproductions.com

I loved Pole Position as a kid...

anyone who has a complete list or knows of games being ported for the NES etc. this would be much appreciated!!

Wait, games made by Atari, or games that were originally on the Atari 2600?

Dig Dug is made by Namco
Defender II for NES was released by HAL.

Tengen is Atari, so almost all black carts are a big give-away, and then some.

hmm I guess both

I guess I am asking for games that were playable on the Atari 2600...

not necessarily whom they were published by...

O and HAL did a great job on Defender...

and even with Tengen, they released Rolling Thunder: one of my favorite games and that too was developed by Namco.

Mario Bros would be one.

Vindicators and the overall better port of Ms. Pac Man. The Namco port has ugly maze graphics, not to mention Tengen hit the "arcade accuracy" aspect right on the nail.

I don't understand why one doesn't just get a Famicom cart (and a converter or clone console, if needed).
(I've also talking about other repros I've seen listed of common FC games, like Goonies I also.)

This is sarcasm, right?

I've found multicarts that contain Dig Dug and other Japanese only releases, I don't see a reason for making a repro instead of getting one of those. It's not like a multicart would be any more expensive, or any less legitimate than a repro.

You're asking for games that are playable on both the 2600 and NES? Okay, I'll play.

These have already been covered:
Donkey Kong
Dig Dug (Famicom)
Mario Bros.
Ms. Pac-Man

Add to the list:
Defender II (Stargate)
Joust
Double Dragon
Kung Fu Master
Burgertime
Donkey Kong Junior
Commando
Q*Bert
Bump N Jump
Gyruss
Klax
Millipede
Pac-Man
Popeye
Rampage
Track & Field
Ghostbusters
Othello
Road Runner
Spy Hunter

Might be a few others but that should be most of the US releases.

If you're talking about games that appeared on both an Atari game console and the Nintendo Entertainment System, off the top of my head we've got:

Commando
Burgertime
Ms. Pac-Man
Rampage
Xevious
Ghostbusters
Ballblazer
Archon
Bump N' Jump
Gyruss
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Millipede
Double Dragon
Ikari Warriors
Spy Hunter
Pac-Man
Q*Bert
Xenophobe
Track & Field
Joust
Popeye
Qix

These are in addition to the other ones people have already added in this thread. And didn't Crazy Climber and Mr. Do! get a Famicom release in Japan?

also whats the closest thing to Pole Position available for the NES?

There's a Famicom-only port of Space Invaders as well, and it's much more accurate to the arcade than the lowly 2600 port.

Rad Racer and Rad Racer II are much like an improved version of Pole Position.

But does it have Invisible Invaders?

Crazy Climber did, but Mr Do was SNES and released in the states, but not on FC.

OK, well I do have Rad Racer and it is great, its one of my favorite games!

Is that one of the 2600 dip switch settings? with that mode switch? Then no, it doesn't. But it does have more than five rows of Space Invaders.

Probably the JP F1-Race Famicom cart. There's a completely different F1-Race for the Famicom Disk System that is an overhead racer, though.

What? I love Defender II on the NES. I find it to be a lot of fun, not as difficult or floaty as the Arcade version.

You might like it, but it's a shitty arcade port. The original poster said Hal did a great job on Defender, which they didn't because:

1) there is no Defender for the NES, just Defender II (Stargate).
2) the port is horrible for a number of reasons in addition to the two you already cited.

The FDS game you're thinking of is Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race.
