There's any number of fitness, dance, and yoga games on the Wii and 360. Not sure what PS3 has. But none of them offer much more than some cardio work, really. I mean, it's not like you can hook a weight machine up to your console and have it bark encouragement at you, or spot you. Now that'd be something, eh?

wii fit had some yoga poses in there that will stress your core muscles if done correctly.

It also had some calisthenic exercises that you could honestly do without the game and perhaps more effectively. The game didn't have a ton of exercises due to the limitations of the balance board. I dunno about the second wii fit game though.

I did wii fit for a few weeks and it bored me. I wanted more.

You could always do the DDR thing for a aerobic workout as long as you dont have people that live below you to piss off. Ive seen it work wonders for some people. With the large library of DDR games you'd have no shortage to work with. One day you could be doing some Crystal Method, another you could be playing the Mario version (lol). There are even a few Disney ones on the PS1.

If you are an achievement/trophy junkie. you might as well play the dance games on the modern consoles.

At home I like to do simple calisthenics using chairs and tables and things, not with video games. The most i use my video game systems for is to play music to my stereo. In which case i think the PS3 sounds the best.

As long as you don't mind looking like an ass, there's Zumba for both PS3 and 360.

Although not really an exercise game, I find Dance Central with a kinect is a good workout.. if you don't mind dancing to Lady Gaga :|

The best, highest rated workout games on the Wii are:

Wii Fit
Wii Fit Plus
EA Sports Active: Personal Trainer

I have actually been losing weight with this combo:
Tony Hawk Ride one day, then Rock Band 3 Pro Drums the next day.

Just play all of the events in Kinect Sports. You are guaranteed to get a very good workout, complete with sweat and sore muscles the next day. And I also recommend playing no more than 2 sports back to back before taking a rest. Otherwise you might overdue it.

I think I actually broke a sweat the last time I played Marvel vs Capcom 3.

I have Mario Mix on GameCube. It's the only version of DDR I've actually bought. I actually found it a lot of fun, and it has some cool remixes of Mario tunes. I liked the Dr. Mario remix a lot.

I'm pretty sure that's on Wii, as well.

I've only got EA Sports Active on the Wii. Doesn't require a balance board. The sequel is on all 3 systems, again, doesn't require Move (I think) or the Balance Board but does support Kinect but I hear that that is the worst version. The original provides a good workout which you can choose how hard you want it to be and has progression though a 60 day challenge mode which also means every time you play you'll unlock new activities. Th default resistance bands are weak but you can buy cheap stronger replacments online or in sports shops. Or, unlike a poster above said, I've even heard of people using weights instead.
