I recently bought a slightly modified gba sp2 (ags101) that didn't come in a first party case which is why I'm looking for a first party case in the buying and selling section. I was wondering if anybody here knew what the quality of a third party lcd compared to first party would be. The first party has some scratches on it so if I could replace it with a scratch free 3rd party without any decrease in quality I would go for it.

However I already know the third party case isn't up to snuff compared to the first party case so I'm a little wary of more third party products. That and the only guy I can find selling them is hxwholesale on ebay.

I'm not sure I'm following you.

You have a modded system in a 3rd party casing with a scratched up screen?

Why bother trying to save it at all? You'd be able to get a nice condition SP2 in it's original casing for less than it's going to cost you to locate a replacement case and replace the screen with one of questionable quality, if at all.

Well because everything on this gameboy is functional and original other than the case. It's also extremely hard to find sp2s that don't have original unscratched screens at least in my experience. Monitoring ebay it's pretty rare that there are actually mint sp2s that don't cost a pretty penny. I was trying to salvage this one for slightly less if I could.

I mean hell if I can't get another case I don't mind swapping it with the sp1 case I have and the scratching on the sp2 lcd is is really minor. I'm just a perfectionist. My SP1 is perfect, I honestly don't understand how the screen is getting scratched up on the SP with the clam shell design. My SP1 is perfect both case and LCD.

Thing is I can live with the lcd as it currently is, I just don't mind spending another $25-40 bucks to get it up to snuff since I got the system itself for a decent price. I know it seems like a lot of effort but I would prefer broken systems with working parts over the other option anyway.

But you could probably get an SP2 for little more than $40. I got one for $50 and the screen was perfect, case was very close too.

Only drawback is that the speaker is kind of tinny but I had a replacement.

I dunno man, it'd probably be more expensive to fix this system up, honestly. Take a lot more time too.
