This game is one of those that "got away". My old roomie and I spent hours and hours trying to beat this damn game and we never got more than 3/4 the way through.

There are no decent cheats for this game. I think you can turn the timer off but that's it.

I have tried the trick where you play a two-player game for an extra shield and lock down the 2nd player fire button for a little extra firepower. I barely make it any further.

Has anyone ever finished the final level? What's it like?

Not I.

Yeah, what is it like?

I can never beat the first stage. This, to me, is not a sign of a good game.

I've thought about playing it in an emulator so I could use save states.. but haven't done it yet.

Didn't someone say the game was basically unbeatable? It might have been an internet reviewer... I'm not sure.

I never even got close. I gave up on trying to finish it as soon as I discovered Shadow Squadron.

I still fire up Star Wars Arcade occasionally just to hear the awesome voice acting for Admiral Akbar.

I love Star Wars Arcade, but it really is IMPOSSIBLE to beat. Steven Lashower, who worked on the game (Also worked on Eternal Champions) claims that there was originally going to be a "Infinite Health" cheat implemented and was left in the code, but there's no way to activate it unfortunately.

All I know is that at the end you're treated to a picture of Ghost Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin Skywalker.

In all their pixelated glory I'm sure.
Wait, how do you know this?

This was one of the first games I picked up when I got my 32X a few years ago. I remember reading that it was supposed to be one of the best games on the system. Boy, was I disappointed. Don't think I ever bothered to finish the first level.

Though I remember being quite excited to play this one back when I got my 32X, Christmas '94, I somehow never played this until 2007, when I picked it up for a couple dollars.

Like Rev. Link above, I don't think I ever finished that first level either. I wasn't disappointed, but I did like Shadow Squadron a lot better.

You don't see Anakin, just Yoda and Obi-wan. The game isn't impossible to beat either as there are a couple videos on youtube.
Here's a complete play through of Arcade mode:

The first two stages are pretty tough but the last level is fairly boring and easy going.

I never got past the death star surface, back in the day. Don't own 32x anymore. Thanks for the youtube links - I finally saw the game's ending!

IIRC, the manual mentioned you could destroy star destroyers. But you couldn't. That would have made it more fun.

This game had two game modes to play through. The arcade mode had four stages and then the 32X mode had eight, if I remember right. I could never make it further than halfway, in either mode.

I have always enjoyed my 32X. I have never enjoyed Star Wars Arcade. It is an impossibly broken game.

beat it with a action replay code on real hardware,

my old post from the tototek forum
real 32x will work with a real pro action replay.
for all the other 2 people out there that care

all you have to do is solder a few wires
and plug the 32x unit into the action replay.
there are some traces that are not complete in the action replay cart
you just have to finish the traces. i have 8 wires soldered in.

i have tried vr racing and it worked.
space harrier locks up.

so some games will work some wont .
there may be a way around the ones that dont work.

just tried star wars it works also.
i did notice the sound is lower on the right side in some sounds and music.
it seems to be the sounds the 32x generates and mixes with the genesis.
so now i need to find what pin is the right audio on the 32x where it plugs in to the genesis video game slot.

now where did i write the code down at...
