Does anyone have an info on Canadian NES releases? I've stumbled across a few game with NES-**-CAN item numbers but can't find any solid information on these.

I'd always wondered about the english/french stickers on the back of some copies of Zelda II.... I heard there was a chip shortage at the time of release and people were importing copies of the title from Canada at the time... not sure how true that is.

Originally, the NES was distributed in Canada by Mattel. And yeah, Zelda II came out here before the US, so I'm not surprised if some Americans actually imported the game from here.
Despite the occasional bilingual packaging, the use of the Mattel logo on early games' boxes and the CAN catalog number, there are no differences game-wise.

Some games had French versions for the Canadian market. At least one, Kirby's Adventure, perhaps others, had French text throughout.
